Autumn approaches, and we're going to be getting more active here at Central Texas Foodies. (Past years' experience has shown that things slow down in the summer as people have more to do, are traveling on vacation, or just don't want to get out in the heat!)

I'd like to schedule some restaurant visits for the Foodies in the coming months, and I'd like your help doing so.

Please send me your suggestions of places you'd like to share with your fellow Foodies, or places you've been wanting to try.

We try to keep things affordable, though if you want to host a visit to a pricier venue, by all means, suggest it and you can be the co-organizer. We like to try places that not everybody knows about, too, so if you know of some hidden jewel that's not written up in all the food blogs and touted to all the tourists, that's the place we want to go!

Ideally I would be able to schedule six months in advance; at the very least, I'd like to cover September-December 2010.

The "and more" part of the subject line - if you know of a food event that we should attend (in years' past we've attended Sunday Fair of the Texas Wine & Food Festival, Austin Chocolate Festival, Austin Ice Cream Festival - you get the drift), let me know about that, as well. Those events won't have an RSVP fee as we'll all be responsible for our own tickets and there's no reservations or prior preparation on the part of your fellow foodies to be concerned about.

We'll continue to have the Asia Cafe Monthly Round Table through the end of the year, at least. At that point, we'll reevaluate whether to continue it. And if you haven't been either to the Round Table or to Asia Cafe, you really really should - it's really awesome food, and dishes you're not likely to find elsewhere. Plus, of course, great conversation, the perfect spice for food.

I'd like to schedule some more potlucks, as those are the heart and soul of our meetup. However, to do that, I need venues, which means I need some of the 400+ foodies that belong to this meetup to volunteer their homes for such events. We've had gatherings anywhere from apartments that were stretching it to accommodate 10 to member homes that are event centers suitable for hosting weddings, everything from simple to fancy, so don't think that your place has to be perfect - or huge - in order to host a potluck. You get to set the limit of number of members who can attend, and set the date, as well. Remember, it's all about the food! So if you'd like to host a potluck, please let me know.
