Ah, now there's one the grapevine has mentioned to me a couple of times that I haven't been to. ?Perhaps we could get some daring folks to go out that far? ?And if they went that far, might as well go to Jarrell to Ruby's, right? ?And points east, as well?

I've even been willing to drive south for meetups (and I live 15 miles north of Georgetown), and it's been worth it every time.

Making a list!

So far, we've had suggestions of places that just about everyone knows
about (and that's fine).

But surely all you foodies have some hidden treasures? ?I promise, we won't
tell the whole wide world about them, if you want to keep the ravening
hordes from ruining them! ;-) ? For example, I know of a BBQ place (not
particularly suitable for a meetup due to size, we usually just grab BBQ and
go) that's tucked away in Bartlett, Texas, that serves some of the best
brisket I've had. ?I know of a place in Jarrell, Ruby's Cafe, that serves
the single best chicken fried steak I've had in 60 years of eating such in
Texas (she has a secret technique, but you have to ask her about it
yourself!). ?I know of a great place to buy sausage and bacon and grab a
bite to eat next door, but it's REALLY too far for a meetup, being in
Zabcikville (look it up).

I'd like to schedule meetups at some of these hidden gems closer in, since
it appears to be hard to get anyone but me to drive "long" distances for a
meetup. ?(My average drive is approximately 45 to 50 miles each way for each
meetup that we have, just so you see where the quotes come from.<G>)

Surely there are some out there!

If you want to just share privately with me, that's fine, too. ?We can even
hide the location of the meetup on the announcement so that only those
members that RSVP can see it!
