Monument Avenue Walking Tour

The first street in the U.S. to be designated as a National Landmark by the National Park Service, Monument Avenue is one of America’s most beautiful boulevards. Learn about the diverse architectural styles of its grand homes, its famous residents and renowned architects. Meet at the Lee Monument at Allen and Monument avenues.

The cost of the tour is $10 which can be paid at the time of the meetup by cash or check. (You can also purchase your ticket online up to 48 hours before the tour at, but note that there is a $1.50 service fee.) This tour is sponsored by the Richmond History Center at the Valentine Museum. It begins at 6 PM but we are asked to arrive early to pay our fees. There is no need to make a reservation.

    The tour was informative and the evening was beautiful. Two homeowners spontaneously invited us in to tour their beautiful homes. This was not a scheduled part of the tour but definitely was the highlight.
