Hey Ron - we had a great time at lunch with you and Mary after the tour and I'm glad you didn't forget about the importance of the bar of soap and where to place it :) Thanks for uploading the photos of our tour. I have a few, but I have to remember to upload them!

Have you ever had one of those moments when you want to sit down and pick someone's mind? Well, that's what came to mind as we listened to Bryan, a walking encyclopedia of Chesterfield Civil War History. Very nice time even though it was a rainy day. Although I have to admit, there was that part of me that wanted to bound down the cliff to the rocks to view the Civil War graffiti. I'll have to wait a little longer until this portion of the park is opened to public browsing.

A couple of us went up and had a very nice lunch while sharing a couple laughs together. BTW Donna, I have my bar of soap ready :>). For those not in the know, you'll have to join us to find out the meaning :>)

WOW - what a wonderful tour! The rain didn't matter...the significant history and the beautiful scenery along the Appomattox made up for any weather issues :)

We'll be there, come rain or shine - bring an umbrella!!! At least it'll be warm :)

I got your message about checking with Bryan about the rain forecast for tomorrow. Thanks for checking out their "rain" policy. I'd be willing to carry an umbrella, though :) Just let me know what you find out and I'll post it if you're having a problem for some reason... Thanks! Donna

Donna, would you mind if I copied your event over to the two other groups; GotRVA and JRH's? I'm juggling way too much and don't have a lot of time to research and post on my own. Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ron

Thanks Donna. Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but I had done some research on this before I saw your post for this event. Nonetheless, this newly acquired area has a very special significance as it's one of the few areas during the Civil War that has graffiti etched on the rocks jutting out on the waterway. Unfortunately, in speaking to Bryan the other night, we will not be touring this :>(. Looking forward to joining you on this one nonetheless.

Donna, do members of the Chesterfield Historical Society have to pay the $8 Registration Fee?

    March 7, 2014

    • Ron "Wildman" C.

Thanks for responding Donna. I ended up at a Civil War Meetup tonight and ironically it was put on by CHS, so I got to ask my question and more. So others know, it's $8 for all; members or not. Probably going to join you but it may be with other Meetup groups coming too. I organize with another and the James River Hikers group I went with tonight are also interested. I'll keep you up on who's interested. Ron
