Glad you had a chance to make it out there, Terry! This is an excellent small historical park, and being a smaller event gives you a lot of time to talk to folks more about their particular period or area of interest.

The re-enactors were really good and I enjoyed the storyteller very much!

Henricus does a good job with their Publick Days; plenty to see at the historic citie, the second permanent settlement in the new world after Jamestown, the interpreters add to the living history experience, and it is the one time you can visit when there is far more than just the buildings to see. Expansion of the event to include historical interpreters from other eras gives one a sense of continuity from what was started there. Although big events like this can sometimes be difficult to coordinate an actual "meetup" of participants, the self-paced aspect of it allows plenty of exploration time and chance to share the experience.

I will look for you around noon. I guess I'll find the park bluff area, but will call Sandra if I can't find you all. I would carpool but may want to go up early or stay late and do some birding. 690-6154. Glad to finally get to do something with this group!

Sounds good, I'll try to look you around noon. Is there food and drink for sale? Or bring my own?

I wasn't sure if the 7th was going to be there or not, but your location would make a fine rendezvous point! See you tomorrow...and I'll have the pics and videos for you from Cricket Hill.

How about if we try to meet at Noon at the park bluff area near the river. I plan to be at Henricus a little earlier, but that way, if folks arrive at different times you can work your way back through the Citie. A number of other re-enactment groups are usually set up at the Bluff, and there are picnic tables to sit. I probably won't have the top hat on, but usually look like I am dressed for a safari.

    Hey Sandra,
Based on past visits, you can spend a couple of hours or all day. It i self directed as far as the exhibit and interpreters go. There are 3 main areas: the Powhatan Village, the Citie itself, and the other living history exhibits near the James bluff. I hope that we can pick a place to rendezvous at the event itself, if not at the visitor's center, then perhaps inside somewhere to give folks a chance to look around or meet different arrival schedules. We can set a time and place before the event next week. The park area near the James bluff is probably a good location. I certainly hope the weather cooperates...if it is raining it is not as much fun.

Does anybody have an idea of how much time this will actually take? Will we all just be there or is there an effort to spend some or all of the tie together as a group?

I'm up for carpooling. I live in North Richmond near I 64 E and I 95 S which are one and the same at that point. Any one want to ride with me?
