We'll be back at Pocahontas State Park for more fun in May! This time, we'll be in a section of the park that we haven't used before, so it will be new and challenging for everyone. Come join us!
Starts: Start any time between 12:00pm and 2:00 pm. (Everybody must be back to the start no later than 4:00 pm.) Feel free to arrive any time after 11:45 am.
Location: Pocahontas State Park. 10301 State Park Road, Chesterfield VA. From the main entrance station along Beach Rd, follow the signs toward the pool parking and look for the red & white arrow signs. We'll be between shelter #2 and the pool.
Cost: Maps are $5 each. Park entry is $5, unless you have a state park pass.
As always, instruction will be available for beginners or those who would like some help to get started.
Bring your own compass, or borrow one of ours (on a first-come basis). Be prepared to leave car keys or an ID as a deposit when borrowing.
Dress appropriately for the weather and for travel both on & off trail.
Feel free to post comments or contact one of the organizers if you have any questions.
Be sure to answer the instruction and map questions when you RSVP! This really helps us with planning.
*** Our meets wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers. Please consider offering some of your time at this or another upcoming meet. ***
Courses will be beginner/first time (White 2.9 km), advanced beginner/novice (Yellow 4.7 km), and two advanced ones (Green 5.4 km & Red 7.1 km).
All courses will be traditional orienteering courses which are to be completed in the numerical order indicated on the map.
Course Designers: Alec Richardson & Ellen Stefaniak
