One of the great things about orienteering is being off-trail. I see so many interesting things while running through the woods that I wouldn't just hiking on a trail! I really "see" the terrain around me now.
I've been orienteering for about 12 years and really enjoy it. I first tried it in northern CA to help with my kayak navigation skills, but enjoyed it so much that I've continued ever since with all kinds of orienteering. I especially like night courses!
Sea kayaking, hiking, camping, cycling, etc.

Hi and welcome! I agree...there's much in our midst to invigorate the mind. Looking forward to seeing you at an event, and feel free to suggest anything that looks intriguing!
Hi Ellen- Welcome to the group. Just a quick note to save the date -- Science Pub RVA plans to hold its first event on Tuesday, May 1st. Looking forward to meeting up
A wonderful event Saturday! Thank you for putting it together and for the instruction! I enjoyed meeting you and look forward to seeing you at the next event!
Thanks for all the hard work that went into putting together the orienteering outing. Please pass that along to the other organizers .... I KNOW that we can't begin to imagine all the behind-the-scenes effort that went into it ..... and you guys always had a smile on your faces.
It was nice to meet you, and others.... thanks for organizing our "event". Paddle on.
Hi Ellen, I see you have a Dagger Meridian. I have the Meridian SK, looking for a backband replacement. Would you know who sells this? Thanks-Shirley (Newport News)
Please take a look at the following sites. Goooh is a process for getting REAL representatives in the house and a mock selection meeting is a great way to get an understanding.
I was a skeptic until I saw the process work at one of the local meetings.
Thanks for all your support at the Chesapeake Paddle. Cathy and I appreciated it muchly.
