Early Thanksgiving Vegan Style!

Hi Everyone!

A New Vegan Meetup has been scheduled! I know this is short notice, but it will be on Saturday November 16th from Noon to 3:00pm . Chris and Darlene, of the famous former EatAir BlogSpot, and now of http://veganscratch.com/, have graciously offered to host the event! And this event will be themed an early Thanksgiving. Everyone is invited! Bring your friends, your favorite vegan dish to share, or just yourself! Need ideas for vegan thanksgiving items? Check out http://vegweb.com/.  If you know of anyone that is interested in our vegan potluck gatherings, please encourage him or her to attend, even if he/she is not signed up on meetup.com. The more folks we can get to attend, the better!

Here's the Skinny from our Hosts!:

Come celebrate an early Thanksgiving vegan-style! We've been having our own vegan Thanksgiving for many years now but since many of you will have to deal with non-vegan food and friends/family on Thanksgiving, this is an opportunity to enjoy an entirely vegan Thanksgiving spread. We'll make a big pot pie and you can bring your favorite seasonal main dish, side or dessert to share. To reduce waste (and the time it takes us to clean up), please consider also bringing your own plate, cup and utensils. We'll certainly have some you can use but maybe not enough for everyone. We'll have water and probably some cider to drink but you're welcome to bring your favorite drink as well.

One disadvantage of our location is the lack of parking out front. There's room for two cars in our driveway (maybe three if they're small and you squeeze in tight) but after that your best bet is to drive past our house, make a left on Riverside Ave and park on-street there. Riverview Park is another option and is only a 3 minute walk. Please respect our neighbors and don't park in their lot directly across the street or in the gravel lot across the street and just past our house.

And finally, many of you know we have two young kids, including a 9 month-old baby. As much as we would love to see you and your kids, please consider staying home if you or your kids are sick or feel like you're getting sick.

-Chris & Darlene

As usual, you need not be a vegan to attend our meetups, but please only bring vegan food. If you are unsure if an ingredient is vegan, you can e-mail me, and I'll be happy to let you know. Basically, make sure there is no meat, poultry, fish, Dairy, Egg, or insect products, or any byproducts from those ingredients.

Certainly feel free to e-mail me with any questions, and I'll make any updates as necessary.

We hope to see you all there!

No idea what I'll bring ... I make a mean cranberry salad but looking through the list it seems we need some veggies! Maybe a kale salad from my garden, or a green bean casserole. Bringing a friend and hopefully my 9-year-old

Hello! Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend! My apologies for not posting this sooner but we have two potential people coming who have allergies. One has a peanut allergy and the other has an avocado allergy. So if you could make sure you don't include either ingredient in what you bring that would be awesome. Sorry again for posting this late. See everyone soon!

Since Chuck and I are swamped that day, I'm bringing my infamous pumpkin pie (which tastes like non vegan pumpkin pie) and my other famous maple pecan pie. Doing pie is something I can do easily the night before and let it cool down so I don't have to do a thing the next day while doing a million things ;)

Bringing pumpkin pie (or a dessert) and maybe a side?? Somehow, we've never managed to participate in a totally vegan tgiving-themed meal so I'm excited!! My little ones (5 and almost 2) will be there too.
