Show and Brew - Beer and Kvass Demonstration

  • Jan 19, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Member Adam Komar will show us how he home brews beer, and will also talk a little about how to make kvass. He says:

"My goal is to have some beer already fermenting so everyone can see what that looks like, and to have some home made brews chilled for sampling. A typical all-grain brew session lasts around 4-5 hours, but 90% of the action happens within a couple hours so meeting mid-morning would put us at lunch while the wort (unfermented beer) is chilling.

I've also been experimenting with making kvass (Russian fermented beverage made from stale bread) and have had great results, and will go over the basics of that since it is MUCH simpler than brewing ordinary beer (and the equipment is basically free too, if you cook on any regular basis)."

Since this will happen around lunch time they are planning on making some vegetarian chili - you are encouraged to bring some finger food or another dish to share!

Our babysitter went from being late to not coming. So sorry, tried to change our RSVP but meetup will not let me in.

Excellent! Adam gave an excellent hands-on demonstration of the beer brewing process from initial ingredients through the fermentation stage, and even had some tasty examples of previous home-brews to sample.

Hey everyone! We're so excited to have everyone over! We will have vegetarian chili and peach dump cake, but I encourage you to bring some kind of finger food!

The start and end time of the meetup is not strict- you all are free to stay as short or as long as you'd like! See you Sunday!
