  • 5/8/14, 2:30PM - We have made the decision to cancel Saturday's program and reschedule for an upcoming day. I am truly sorry for any disappointment and/or inconvenience this may cause. Normally I would go ahead with the program but since it is outdoors and there's a chance of thunder and lightning, I'd rather play it safe. I'll feel bad if it doesn't rain, but I'd feel worse if I had to cancel last minute and worry about contacting everyone in time. I will create a new event when we have finalized the date, but we are looking at Sunday, June 1st at 1pm.

5/7/14, 11:30PM - I just sent an e-mail to everyone RSVP'd, but Dawn from Me and My Honey just got in touch with me and we are discussing whether to reschedule this program due to rain. Reports are currently calling for thunderstorms on Saturday. We will keep an eye on the reports and make a decision tomorrow, as I would rather cancel early and give you all ample notice than cancel last minute. Stay tuned.

I've lately had a lot of people ask about wild foraging. If this is an interest of yours, please join us for this class! Dawn of Me and My Honey of Ohio will be leading a "Wild About Plants" walk specifically for our group.

As the Me and My Honey website describes, "Depending on the season, there is always something to be learned from the wild places that surround us.  We wild harvest for teas and cooking and healing purposes."

Dawn "will do a class that will focus on 5 wild plants so that there is not an overwhelming amount of information and identification can take place with limited confusion." Which plants we learn about will depend on what is growing at the time!

Me and My Honey of Ohio is located in Johnstown, northeast of the city. If you would like to carpool, please use the discussion board below. Let us know your location and whether you need a ride or are driving and have room for passengers.

IMPORTANT: The class costs $10 and we will be collecting money the day of the class. Please do not forget to bring your cash! There is a maximum registration number of 15, so please do not RSVP until you are sure you will be able to attend. In addition, if you need to cancel your RSVP please do so at least 48 hours in advance of the class date. After May 7th your spot is reserved and will need to be paid for, even if you cancel. Please keep that in mind. Thank you!

I will be driving from northern Union Co., through the Delaware/Ostrander area and Centerburg. If anyone is out this way I can fit a couple extra passengers.

There is also an organic health/wellness b&b just up the street on Flying J farm if anyone wanted to stay close that weekend. It's $50/night and $10-15/per person/per meal. www.flyingjfarm.com

If I'm correct, I visited the farm several years ago to pick up organic hay. The house is very old and unique. One-of-a-kind. Worth a stay just to see the house.
