Central Ohio SSS Reads!

Join us for our first book discussion meetup! I have chosen to start in March to give everyone enough time to find a copy of the book and plan the date into their schedules. After March, discussions will be held once a month.

For this discussion we will meet at the Panera Bread in Dublin on Martin Rd. near the intersection of Sawmill and 161. We will meet at 11am, settle in and grab some coffee/pastry/lunch (if desired), and plan to start the discussion around 11:30.

March's book selection is: A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold. Please read the book ahead of time and bring any questions or comments that may have arisen while reading. I (Leah) will be leading/moderating the discussion, but I plan on it being very casual. Let's have fun!

How do I find a copy of the book?
Copies of the book may be procured through your local library (you may also try MORE, the statewide library sharing program. Ask at your library for details). If you cannot locate a copy at the library, post here to see if anyone has an extra copy they are willing to lend you for the month. If all else fails, I recommend www.bookfinder.com to search for a cheap used copy you can purchase on the internet. You may also try Half Price Books or another local bookseller.

Our book discussions will be held on the second Saturday of each month in various locations. In the future we will choose which books to read through a poll on our meetup page. If you have location or book suggestions, please contact Leah!

I'm not going to make it after all, we are all sick at my house.

I was not able to make it today due to having my grandchildren and one of them was sick also. I have not been able to get on the computer until now, so sorry for the late response.

Not a problem, Peggy! Hope you can make it to the next one! We're reading Living at Nature's Pace by Gene Logdson in April (May book is TBD).

I will try to attend. I am part of the Greater Columbus Growing Coalition(GCGC) Website: columbusgcgc.org. Are most of your meetings in Dublin?

    • Leah M.

Not necessarily. We are trying to spread out our meetings around C-bus and central Ohio. Matt and I live an hour NW of the city, so Dublin seemed like a good mid-point between us and those that live downtown. Also, while events like this are hosted by us specifically, many events we post are hosted by third parties, and those may be anywhere in the Columbus/Central OH area.

I'd love to come to this and other events but I might need to hitch ride with somebody if possible. I live in the Grandview area.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
