Authentic Buddhist Meditation Instruction

Change Your Mind / Change Your Life meditation sessions for the 2014 calendar year! CYM/CYL will continue to meet on the Fourth Sundays - 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is one of the essential disciplines in the path of self-transformation. Developing the core skills of mindfulness, emotional receptivity and positive energy takes place in the structured setting of formal meditation practice. With the meditation skills we develop, we cultivate our pure heart nature and learn to manifest ourselves genuinely in our daily lives. Through meditation we come to understand how things and events truly exist. Teachers, mentors and instructors are essential supports to mastering this ancient contemplative practice.

These training sessions are appropriate for all level of students and spiritual beliefs.

What You Will Learn

• How to become “frazzle free.”
• Seven point meditation posture.
• Nine stages of meditation.
• How to use breath, chanting, prayers and visualization in meditation.
• How to maintain mindfulness in daily life activities.
• Components to a daily meditation practice.
• How to develop meditation tranquility and insight.
• How to connect fully with your spiritual teachers or higher power.

The class was amazing and I could have sat longer for meditation and also to listen to Venerable Tenzin Yeshe's beautiful words. Charles and I are looking forward to more classes. For me the teachings are such a central aspect of my meditation and learning to change the perspective of my thoughts which really does create "our" reality. It was quite a wonderful day!

I enjoyed the class and would like to do more meditation during the class. I thought it was the perfect length of time...perhaps even longer someday once I can sit for longer without pain.

I really enjoyed the talk before the meditation session. It helps me to focus on the important area, in this case, in and out breaths. It helps my practice and overall I am a calmer person in most situations.

I was struggling with a painful loss, thanks to this class I feel like I no longer am tied to my painful thoughts. Thankful.

Hello! Looking forward to this event! Logistical question: I prefer to meditate with a cushion. Should I bring my own, or will cushions be provided?

    April 27

    • Venerable Tenzin Y.

Hi Alison, There will be cushions available and chairs. You can bring your cushion also if you wish to. See you there!

I'm so sad that I cannot make it for a second month in a row! A friend of mine visiting from out of town extended his stay. He's enchanted by the redwoods, so I'm taking him to see trees this weekend. Next month for sure! Please let me know if there is a special meditation on Friday night.

Hi I am Joan and I am interested in gaining more experience with mindfulness and meditation. My partner is also interested and I would like to help him gain knowledge of this most amazing benefit. We have been caregivers to my parents for almost 4 years and it is very stressful. We are in need of support, love and help with compassionate people.

Hi Joan, I hope I will get to meet you on Sunday, My name is Becke and I will have my son (GORDON) with me. I know how stressful it is to be a CARETAKER and by NO means is it a easy task. Hang in there! We'll look for you as I will remember your name is Joan.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
