We meet at North Towne Grille, a great little Greek restaurant across from Northwoods Mall (off Rivers onto Eagle Landing Blvd) which provides us a private, quiet meeting space in the back. The setup encourages face-to-face conversation and our very popular Show-and-Tell uses a laptop, video projector and state-of-the-art screen so bring your favorite 15-20 shots burned to a CD/Flash card/thumb drive/memory stick or .... simply sit back and enjoy seeing what others have been doing.
Members wanted an optional monthly THEME so we all could shoot our version of a common topic. The June 2009 theme is "SHARP." (Always a good goal in photography.)
In addition to one-on-one "camera talk" we have had members share comments and even a hands-on studio lighting demonstrations.
In January, our first-ever Guest Speaker was Stacy Pearsall from Alterman's Studios. Stacy, a decorated USAF combat photographer, gave a stirring presentation. We later learned she appeared on Oprah. Just one example of what COULD happen when you address this group.
Members have shared their thoughts on shooting RAW, using Photoshop, WIMP and other tools to enhance photos.... NOT as a lecture but as a sharing/learning experience in layman's terms.
Videographer Geoff Marshall shot a nice piece (www.thedigitel.com) showing that the group has fun as we blend creativity with the technical side. Please search there for 21st Century Photography Group.
Digital cameras get more powerful and smaller, yet the price keeps dropping!? Many cell Phone cameras now exceed 2 megapixels. Find out what to look for when you shop (for phones or cameras). What computer and printer should be your own personal darkroom/film processor? Are there even film developers still out there? Any in Charleston? Custom labs? Can you still buy Polaroid film packs? Why?
The 2nd Wednesday of the month is turning out to be an informative - and fun - monthly social event. RSVP so meals and enough seats are ready for everyone. Thank you.
P.S. ALWAYS bring your camera(s). Someone might say "Hey, I have THAT same one..how do you...?"
P.P.S. Some members have NOT posted a profile picture. Duh, this is a photography group after all.

Wish I could have atttended...last minute glitch! I'm sure it will be a "sharp" meeting and I'll miss seeing all of your presentations! Will I be welcome at the next meeting? It's up to Chuck & Eugene! I don't want to be known as the "no show" gal!
