A "low key" Christmas get together at a beach house on Folly

The FIRST Christmas Smorgasbord Potluck in Folly Beach at Victor’s House!!
December 25, 2012 2PM PLEASE RSVP!!!!

Come one, come all and share, socialize, and mingle in the holiday spirit!! Of-course bring yourself, but also please bring accompanying friends and family who are with you. Come for a only few minutes to say Hi, or come to stay for hours; but come if the house visiting spirit is with you.

Enjoy a “White Elephant” gift exchange, holiday music, and good cheer for all.

BYOB and a food item to share. No, we won’t be keeping track of who is bringing what, just bring something to share (app, main, salad, dessert, bread, whatever). There are ovens and stove tops available for use. Also a super wide cinema TV screen to keep up with all of the holiday ambiance.

If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a wrapped/bagged “white elephant” gift (White Elephant gift: something you have that you don’t want). If you don’t bring a gift, please don't participate in the exchange.

And AFTER or DURING this social….
Either a pristine beachfront walk on Christmas Day and/or Loggerhead’s Bar & Grille, who are having live music starting about 6PM (both locations are within a few seconds walking, as the house is within a short viewing distance of the Folly Pier).

Update: Weather forecast is it may rain some of the day. The house design makes this a rainproof event with an outdoor feel. However if walking in the rain on the beach is planned, please bring raincoats. The saving grace is temperatures will be mild with very little wind. Question: What would Christmas be like without either rain or snow?  My Answer: It would feel like Easter.

Whoops! My bad! I laid the scarf down when I was doing some clean up work and never gave it back to it's rightful owner...especially after he was so kind to loan it to me! Big apologies! -A

Wow! What a fun day/night! There were copious amounts of amazing food, wine and new friends to be enjoyed by all! Thanks for the perfect venue, Vic, and for very organized hosting, Neeki! It was a great production, and I enjoyed it immensely! Looking forward to upcoming events with C.M.! Thank you everyone!!!

Looks like about 75 of us came...many new. Everyone was great and Oh all the delicious FOOD. I made sure that none was left here at end as I'm trying to lose weight, although I kept some of the wine (LOL). Thanks to the after party crowd for cleaning up, as everything was seamless for a non domestic type of guy like me. With everything going so smoothly, a Super Bowl party will soon be announced for Feb 3. As I'm told, this is the most partied day of the year here in the US. On another note, a Celtic looking plaid red scarf was left here, so please email me to get it back.

Angi, I hear aebleskiver is a delicacy... I can't wait to taste it. And "God Jul" to everyone, or as we say in my parents' native tongue, "Buon Natale!"

Hey, there, Joseph! It's only a delicacy if cooked properly to perfection! ;) Mmmmwah! Can't wait to share it with everyone! And, Joyeux Noël... in my non-native, second tongue!

It's not the NUMBER of people that makes it low key - its the ATTITUDE! I'm not organizing caroling - but if you want to- go right ahead - would be fun!

    1 · December 24, 2012

    • Angel

Thats a joke.... not really going to do caroling... with my singing Id get egged for sure... lol

wow Victor! Quite and amazing group coming. Im looking forward to seeing seasoned and new friends for the Holiday season. With over 60 people, how low key will we be? We could always have some drinks then go Christmas Caroling... How lucky are we that its Dec and we can still wear flip flops! lol

WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE: 4PM-ish. This is LOW KEY, so bring something from your "Goodwill" pile (or go to a thrift store and get something inexpensive). Make sure it is wrapped in such a way that no one can tell what it is - that's the point - people can "steal" your gift or choose from the pile of gifts. Exact exchange rules to be explained at the party. For those who have never played here is a through explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wh...
It's not about what you get - it's about the entertainment of the game.

Dress code: LOW KEY (casual). Wear whatever you want! Do, however dress appropriately for walking on the beach in a cool breeze or for walking to "downtown" Folly's Loggerheads or Blu, if you choose. Its a few blocks from the house...

    December 18, 2012

  • Linda Blankensop

Victor, This is so nice of you and a great idea. I won't be spending Christmas with family this year. Can't wait to come and enjoy Christmas with friends. What's the dress code?? Not sure this is all new to me.
