I've been in Charleston for a few years now, and haven't met many vegetarians. With my husband being military, a lot of our friends are die-hard steak lovers. I love them, but it would be nice to share a meal with people who won't ask me why I'm vegetarian, ask me where I get my protein, or feel the need to defend their eating habits. : )
I've been vegetarian for 3 years, and my husband has been vegetarian for just over 1 year. I've always loved animals. I'm ashamed to say that I was always just a little ignorant as to where my burgers and hot dogs came from. Late one night three years ago, I saw a PETA video that made my stomach turn. I spent the entire night watching similar videos, and vowed never to eat meat again. I've been asked so many times "how do I do it, not eat meat," but I haven't even considered eating meat since that night. I can't stomach the thought of someone being killed and put on a plate for me.
Alessandra's in downtown Summerville, for sure! I lived in Italy when I was little, and the ambiance and food there is as close to my childhood memories as it gets.
I moved to America almost 4 years ago with my husband of nearly 8 years, who is in the Air Force. I was raised in England, but have an American accent. I'm a mom of two cats and a dog. I love animals, and I'm vegetarian.
