How did you hear about the group?

What are your reasons for joining the group?

I need vegan friends! Being a passionate activist from Southern California, i have had lots of experience with animal rights activities and vegan advocacy. I sorely miss the vegan drive-through in San Diego! And the fellowship of many long-term activists. I hope to participate in all local activities and maybe contribute something "different," or "new" to this meetup. If the group is interested, we could even organize a World Peace Diet presentation for family/friends/interested parties/general public.

Are you vegan? vegetarian? veg-curious? How long has it been?

I've been vegan since 14Feb09 and got certified as a World Peace Diet facilitator with Dr. Tuttle in October 2010. My dad had sent me a copy of the book and I was SO shocked that i didn't know a cow MUST give birth to "give" the milk that was turned into the Dairy Queen Snickers Blizzards I loved to eat..... The subtitle of the book is "eating for spiritual health and social harmony," but it is completely non-denominational, citing the basic tenets of ALL religions as consistent with the moral/ethical guidelines we practice with a vegan lifestyle. Tuttle did an amazing job of explaining the social and cultural context in which a relatively compassionate and intelligent person can totally miss that basic biological fact.... =) I have also personal experience relating the principles of 12-step "recovery" with the practice of veganism. In California all my "work" revolves around animal rights activities, pet sitting and vegan advocacy. ;)*

What is your favorite place to dine out, and your favorite meal there?

Gnome Cafe. Those onion rings are Perfect!

I'm passionate about being compassionate!
