Glass Blowing Class

*May 24th is just a placeholder date.  This is not set in stone.  Please keep reading :)

I finally have some info for our potential glass blowing class with One Eared Cow in Columbia, SC.  Thanks for everyone's patience!

As of right now, all of this is tentative.  However, May is their last month of classes until September. So I'd like to get some feedback from those of you who are (seriously) interested in doing this.  Please note that I will be out of town on Saturday, May 10th so that leaves us with May 3rd, 17th, 24th and 31st for possible class dates.

Here are our class options of what we can make (see the photo for examples of these):

Ornament:  $50

Oil Lamp:  $65

Drinking Glass (I'd think this can double as a vase):  $70

Times:  If we get 10+ ppl, then we can have a private class for one of the above options sometime after they teach the class that is open to the public, which begins at 10am on Saturday.  If we don't have 10 ppl, then we'll just sign up for the 10am class.  However it's likely that their classes will be different from the above; only the ornament class is a definite since it's their most popular beginner class.

Also, it was suggested at the last Open Craft that while we're in Columbia, we should check out the Museum of Art.  I thought this would be a great idea.  I mean, why not since we're already in town.  Admission is $12 and you can click here to check out the exhibitions they have going on:  http://www.columbiamuseum.org/art/exhibitions.

So here's where I'd like feedback from those interested.  You can either post in the comments section or send me a private message.

1-  Which class (ornament, oil lamp or drinking glass) are you most interested in?

2-  Which Saturdays in May are you available for this?

3-  Are you also up for going to the Columbia Museum of Art?

4-  Anything else you'd like to add?

I know this is a lot of info to sift through but I'd really appreciate your feedback!  This is going to take a little bit of coordinating, which I'm totally up for, but I just want to get an idea of who's serious before I jump in with the planning it.  Personally, I'm really excited about it since it's been on my bucket list for years so I hope you guys are, too!

Hey girls! Just to give a little update...I'm still working on this. Apparently they ended up canceling their May classes. However, they said that if we had around 8 girls they could probably do a private class with us. It looks like the 31st is the date that'll work for most everyone (sorry Theresa!) so that's the day I'm trying to request. I'll keep you all posted!

    1. I'd prefer it in this order: drinking glass, ornament, oil lamp.
    2. I'm available May 3rd, 17th, and 31st. (Not available the 24th, as that is moving day.)
    3. Most likely.
    4. This looks really cool and probably a once in a lifetime thing. I'm looking forward to it.

Totally interested! The last weekend in May is probably the worst option for me, but I could maybe make it work. I wouldn't mind doing something easier like the ornament--I'd hate to go home with an epic fail

Is this date set or tentative? I've been in their gallery but have never been able to take a class. They have the most beautiful work!

Hey Laurie - It's tentative, in fact I just changed the date because that's the one weekend in April that they're not doing classes. I'm still waiting on a little more info from them.

This is a cool idea! Is One-Eared Cow the glass blowing studio you are looking into?

    March 23, 2014

    • Joy

      Yep! Have you been?

      March 23, 2014

    • Melissa M.

No, but I have heard of the studio before - I grew up in Columbia.
