*This event is on-going, you do not have to make it to Open Craft to participate. You can do this on your own time.
We'll be doing this during our Open Craft this month. Obviously, you don't have to do this to come to Open Craft, you can still bring something else to work on, but we'd love to have a big group of us submitting pieces! If you'd like to participate, please RSVP here (regardless of if you're coming to Open Craft). And if you are coming to Open Craft, please RSVP there as well. Hope that's not too confusing!
When you have the time, watch the video. It gives a clear idea of what this is. However, in case you can't watch it right now or just like to see everything in writing....
6x6, ( roco6x6.org ) Rochester Contemporary Art Center's (RoCo) international small art phenomenon, is an exhibition of thousands of artworks made and donated by celebrities, international & local artists, designers, college students, youths, and YOU. Each artwork must be 6x6 square inches (15cm) or mounted to a 6x6 board, and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. All entries are accepted, exhibited and offered for sale to the public for $20 each (in the gallery and online for global purchasing) to benefit RoCo. Artist names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase and all artworks remain on display through the end of the exhibition. Sold Out artists' names will be revealed next to their work online. Anyone may enter up to 6 artworks and there is no fee to participate
Free! Just bring your own supplies to make your pieces. Speaking of supplies, you can do pretty much anything as long as the size of the artwork is 6 x 6. It can even be 3D (check out the video)! The one and only thing prohibited is GLITTER.
We'd love to represent Charleston by sending a bunch of Charleston-inspired pieces from our group! And please feel free to do more than one! Realistically, we’d like to send at least 36 so we can qualify as a 6x6 Party.
We're going to be working on these at Open Craft but even if you can't make it then, you can still participate! We just need to have all submissions into us by early April (we'll give you an exact deadline soon).
Thanks to Katherine for suggesting this idea! She’s participated before and even had one of her pieces win an award and appear on the cover for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (how cool is that?!).
