DIY Macrame Hanging Planters

This has been on my list of stuff to make for awhile now.  I figured this would be a perfect outdoor craft since it doesn't require a lot of time or materials.   Plus, you can't beat the view :)

So grab something to sit on (a blanket or towel) and here's what you'll need to bring:

1) Twine, rope or yarn.  It all depends on the look you're going for (or whatever you might have around the house).

2) Scissors.  Bring some if you can, but don't fret if you forget.

3)  Pot, jar, etc.

4) Yardstick.  I'll bring two so you don't have to bring one unless you want to.

5) Any embellishments like beads or metal fittings you'd like to add.

I thought it best to start off with just a simple hanging planter like the ones below.  I'll bring some printed directions for people to share.  If you'd like to make a different version, feel free.  There are a ton of instructions out there.

Check out this link to get ideas of what types of materials you can use.

Hey Abby, Cara & Katherine - I think I'm going to postpone this. It's raining downtown (and in Mt.P) and even if it clears up, it won't be much fun if the ground is wet. I'll reschedule soon!

Yeah, sorry the last minute notice. I was crossing my fingers it wasn't going to rain.

Hi girls! I'm looking forward to tonight! If you aren't too familiar with waterfront park, the best way to get there is by going down East Bay and then finding parking on one of the side streets once you past Broad Street. You can even park in the parking lot where I park for free, which is at East Bay and S. Adgers Wharf. Once you get to the park, I figured we could just find a space on the grassy area on the right side of the pineapple fountain. I'll be wearing a black dress with colorful flowers so just come look for me or use the meetup app to find us.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
