Favorite Restaurant?

Thus far, in Charleston, my favorite restaurants has been Husk. I also liked Mondo's and Zen. My favorite restaurants have been, from the places I have lived: Madeleine's Fusion in Evansville IN, Gene's Barbecue in Henderson, KY, Montrio Bistro in Monterey CA, there was also a great California-Mexican restaurant or 20 there, Zentner's Daughter in San Angelo, TX, Rosa's Cafe in San Angelo, as well as another Mexican restaurant called Mejor Que Nada. The name alone is worth it to go. And lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention Ram Tei, a restaurant in Misawa, Japan. If you're a vegetarian, I don't recommend it, but if you like beef and a lot of it, marinated and cooked on a grill at your table, Ram Tei is the best place.

Favorite Chef?

Honestly, I believe my favorite chef thus far is one from 'back home'. The chef at Husk is a close second. Better than anyone: My Mom. She was a phenomenal cook who could have been a chef in most any fine restaurant.

Favorite Dish?

I have way too many favorites to list them here. I love a good loaded nachos, the variety in shrimp and grits, I loved my Mom's spaghetti and no one has ever matched her meat sauce. I adore a superbly cooked and seasoned steak. I love good Italian, Mexican, Fusion, Japanese and Chinese foods.

Favorite Wine?

Riesling but I love many other wines as well. Currently I have been experimenting with dessert wines... to great success!

I love trying new restaurants and usually go by myself. Going with a group would be a fun experience. I'll try almost any restaurant at least once. I've discovered that while ambiance is important to some folks, I much prefer to focus on the food.
