- Bring a spare tire tube in case you get a flat.
- It is essential that all riders follow some basic group ride safety procedures:
- Pay close attention to the bicycle in front of you
- Call out "Slowing" immediately if you use your brakes or the rider in front of you calls "Slowing"
- Communicate all road hazards you observe to your fellow riders; "Car left", "Hole", "Car passing", etc.
- Make sure you check beside you and behind you and communicate to the other riders if you want to move out from behind the bicycle in front of you
- Try to stay behind the bicycle in front of you or clearly move into a safe passing lane next to that bicycle; don't ride half-wheel
- Communication with your fellow bikers is the key
- Ask questions at the start of the ride if you would like clarification of any of these guidelines
