Both. I still ride a road bike most often but thanks to Pedro I've tackled the trail again and it was a blast. After commuting on a road bike with 700 cm rims for over 12 years now I've started riding a 26" mountain bike with slick tires sometimes. I like that because I can take side excursions like the trail behind Myers Park High along the creek and I don't have to worry about holes and curbs.
In city limits of Charlotte. Have ridden in Costa Rica, Phoenix, AZ and Austin, TX in past year too. I read David Byrne's "Bicycle Diaries" and soon after took a weekend trip to NYC with wife, rented bikes and rode downtown, Central Park, Uptown, Harlem, it was great! I am less fearful of urban traffic than that on highways. The most scary city to ride in is San Francisco. I did that summer of 2014. Riding 45 degree hills in heavy traffic is a challenge to say the least.
6? There aren't many days I don't get on a bike at all. Ride 10 miles to work over 190 days a year. My ride home is something I look forward to all day.
Road - less than 30 miles more than 10. I've found that I ride more if I ride the comfortable distance often. I'm getting over 3,500 miles a year now but rarely ride over 25 in a single ride.
Love to ride and ride to work often. I like the nighttime rides too.
This is great! I've been cycling in Charlotte for decades and never realized there was a casual cycling group.
