SOUTH CHARLOTTE MEET-UP! Let's Talk About "Design!"

Hello Blogging Friends! Brittany asked me to be the South Charlotte Coordinator and I'm happy to schedule this first meetup for our group at the Americana Restaurant off of Independence Blvd. near Stallings. It is actually in Matthews. I'll provide the address and phone number here. I thought it would be a good idea for us to talk about "design" and "design elements" that create a visual experience for the reader as well as the content. How we display our content is almost as important as the content. How advertising helps or hinders the reader experience, and how we can integrate advertising without taking away from our design and content. The first thing people see when they go to your blog is your masthead. That first image should encourage the reader to keep on scrolling and reading and commenting. How can we best design our blog for an easy user interface and professional design? I thought this would be a great topic as I am always looking for ways to re-design my site and encourage more reader involvement. Your thoughts? Susan Vaughn

Here is the address to the Americana Restaurant: 1628 Matthews-Mint Hill Road Matthews, North Carolina 28105 (704)[masked] I'll go ahead and contact "George," the owner, and arrange for the group section to be available for our group! They serve great American food, have great steaks and seafood, sandwiches (hot and cold) lots of great veggies, salads, and more. It is a casual environment, clean, friendly, and affordable. My family enjoy going there and always have a good meal. It is comfortable and fun and would be a perfect place for our meetup! Hope you all will be able to make it! - Susan

The content was excellent. I'm a new blogger and I got a lot of valuable information. The only thing that keeps it from getting five stars is there were only four people. That probably has to do with it being on a Friday night. I think the organizers are planning to put it on a different day next time, so attendance should be better. But, to be honest, the small size really worked to my advantage because I was able to get a lot of good one-on-one advice.

I'd have given this 5 stars because the interaction was excellent - and the exchange of information too. Just needed a few more people.

I enjoyed meeting Ron and Steve! Because the group was so small, we talked about more than just design and we were all able to share ideas and information to improve our blog sites, however, I was disappointed that more members did not show up. I realize that Friday is a difficult evening for people to get together now, and will try to schedule future meet ups during the afternoon and in the middle of the week. Sorry about that all!
