In preparation for our upcoming hack sessions we've created a Github organization for the group.
To help make sure the hack sessions are useful to everybody we want to establish a baseline of knowledge starting with GIT with Github workflow. We recommend you bring a laptop along for this one.
In this workshop we'll cover:
• basic version control concepts
• getting GIT installed
• basic GIT commands in the terminal
• suggested GIT workflows
• how to work with Github.com
• how to use the Github GUI's for OSX and Windows.
Important note: Our workshops will start at 6:00pm instead of 6:30pm so we have enough time to cover all material & answer questions.
this meetup was the best by far. one, because i really love the workshop format and actually writing code and interacting with the speaker. two, because i use GIT at work and i've been trying to learn more about it. the only thing was it went a little fast at some points and i caught myself having to just type stuff really fast without really understanding what i was doing. overall though it was awesome

Bermon did an excellent job! I learned the most important commands in GIT and much about the workflow process within GIT.

@milan It's going to be a nice lead in to some hack sessions we have starting in September. Still working on the details of the workshop. Overall goal is to get people comfy with using GIT/Github that night. Trying to make it hands on as possible.

@Bermon funny you are presenting this. That is my next topic at http://www.nywebtech.com/events...
. I'd be interested to see what you have on your plate that you will present.
