Designing a Game - Concept to Polish

Title:  Designing a Game - Concept to Polish

This talk will explore the process of designing a game, as opposed to programming a game. We'll start with developing a concept, look at how to form mechanics and interplay, move on to challenge and level design, and briefly discuss polish. Along the way we'll sketch out an original game together.

Portions of this talk are taken from Anna Anthropy's Level Design Lessons.

Speaker:  Gregory Avery-Weir is a game designer with Future Proof Games. His Flash games have had millions of plays and Future Proof recently released their first retail downloadable title, Ossuary. They are currently working on their upcoming game, code named Zero Day.

It was a fun meeting and Gregory did a great job engaging the audience. I wrote some fun games almost 30 years ago for the Commodore 64 that need resurrected in current technology.

I think that the collective game development process, supplemented with the Prezi details, provided a great introduction to gaming. Thanks.

Is the title in reference to the moment we outsource our game code? (sorry I had to)
