Charlotte Grok

This Grok exists to get you out of your silo, build relationships with like-minded individuals, and to help strengthen our startup community

Come chat with us, carry on a conversation, pose a question, share your startup experiences (good and bad), and get some feedback.

The Format

The day will be divided up into two hour blocks. Within those two hour blocks we will have 10/20s. 10 or 20 minute blocks of timed, rapid conversations. As we finish a 2 hour block and break for food the hope is that you take the opportunity and carry on those conversations as we socialize.

The Speakers

The Grok is open for anybody to lead a discussion about an idea you want to share, a business challenge, a technique or even demo something you've been working on.

You can take a few moments to plan something or present something adhoc. The planning isn't important but if you think you have something that'll hold the attention of a group of people for 10 or 20 minutes then by all means share it with us.

The Schedule

  • 9:30am - 10:00am: Quick meet & greet, munchies & prep.
  • 10:00am - 12:00pm: Session 1 (broken up into 10 - 20 minutes conversations)
  • 12:00pm - 2:00pm: Tasty tasty lunch
  • 2:00pm - 4:00pm: Session 2

Head Up a Conversation

Have an idea or a conversation you'd like to lead? Tell us what you want to talk about and we'll get you on the schedule.

If you still aren't sure we'll be doing some adhoc additions the day of the Grok, so no worries.

Parking

Parking at Packard Place is free. Here's a handy Google map that highlights the parking areas.

Parking is right next door and the entrances are on 3rd Street. There are 2 parking areas outlined in the map.

For a first-time visitor, I found Grok to be engaging.
It didn't answer any of the questions about marketing sources for a startup, but it wasn't a complete waste either.

Oh, "virtually drove" referred to google maps and the integrated "street views" where I saw the writing on the sidewalk. :)
    PEACE!

I virtually drove around the area, until I found the writing on the sidewalk beside Picasso's. Being a startup that moved to Charlotte, I'm still learning the area too. Sorry for the stressful notes before. I'll be there... Hopefully, someone can help me with marketing on a budget of $0... I missed the other Meetup today when I had the wrong time for the other meetup in my notes. Was getting ready around 5:45, when I saw the other Meetup today started at 5:30.
I'm ready for 9:30a on Saturday fo

Hey Barry. It's on the same corner, right next to the parking areas outlined in the Google map in the meetup details. Street View hasn't been updated but Packard Place recently had a makeover and has a very unique brown and white paint scheme. That makes it pretty easy to spot (especially since they've torn down alot on the neighboring blocks to get ready for the new park). The Garage is on the first floor of Packard Place, next door to Picasos, facing Church.

I would really like to attend, but I do not know downtown Charlotte. Once I park, which building do I go to? What Floor? You might want to pick the start location as the Preferred Parking Sign at the corner of 3rd & Church (from the Google Street View)... or specify which corner of 3rd and Church to start from. From the starting point, provide _walking directions_ (direction, which side of the street, names on buildings, numbers of building visible on the door).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
