Unfortunately, I just found out that the famous Landsford Lillies are underwater this year and so far, have not bloomed. Therefore, we are going to POSTPONE the outing until further notice. We will keep watch and if the river clears up, we may try again in June. I would imagine that areas of the trail that are close to the river have had an access of water as well. We will let you know if we can re-schedule in June.
Apologies for any inconveniences...
Join us for an outing to Landsford Canal State Park to see the beautiful spider lillies. We will spend the afternoon at the park walking the trails and down to the river to observe the lilies that bloom each year. We will then meet back in the picnic area for lunch. There is a $5/pp park entrance fee (CASH only). Bring your frisbees or any other outside games to play with the group.
"Stretched along the Catawba Riveron the South Carolina fall line, Landsford Canal State Park is home to the well-preserved remains of the canal system that made the river commercially navigable from 1820 to 1835. The river is home to the largest known stand of rocky shoals spider lilies, a flower species found predominantly in the Southeast. Peak bloom for the lilies is during May and June."
