The Charlotte Natural Hair Meetup is a support group for women and men who wear their hair natural, transitioning from chemicals to natural hair or considering going natural. Whatever stage you are in your natural journey, our goals are to educate, advise, and support one another in a positive social setting. Join this group if you are interested in learning about natural hair and natural living alternatives, or if you want to connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for natural hair
You have 30 days from the date you are approved as a member or your first meetup to pay your membership dues of $15. Dues cover membership from January to December. Dues cover the fee to host the meetup website and miscellaneous expenses to run the group (i.e., copies, office supplies, food, venue rental deposits, mixology supplies, etc.). Due to the information and camaraderie provided, you will see this is a bargain! You can pay your dues in person to any organizer at an upcoming meetup or via the PayPal link on our meetup homepage. If dues are not paid within 14 days of your membership approval, you will be removed from the group.
The group is run by people who love the natural hair lifestyle so much they VOLUNTEER their time. In the past we have had too many members RSVP “yes” for meetups and not attend. Therefore, you are allowed 3 no-shows (e.g., RSVP “yes,” but don’t show up for an event) during a 12 month period. You can change your RSVP until the deadline, if your plans change. Changing your RSVP to a "no" after the RSVP deadline also constitutes a no-show. If you register a guest and they cannot attend, please change your RSVP. After the third no-show, you will be removed from the group’s membership role and banned from rejoining the group. We know that things come up and sometimes there is an emergency. This is why we allow three no-show within a 12 month period.
NOTE FOR DELETED MEMBERS: If you were dropped from membership due to failure to pay 2012 dues within 14 of your membership approval, you can still join the group. There will be a $5 administrative fee due in addition to you $15 membership dues, for a total of $20 to be paid before your profile is unbanned and you are able to join the meetup again. You can pay your dues via PayPal firstname.lastname@example.orgAfter paying your dues, you will need to email Shy at email@example.com let her know that you have paid your dues and she will unban you. You will need to reapply for membership to the group and upon membership approval, you will need to contact Shy to request that your membership dues be marked as "paid" on your profile.
