Fields of Awesome things that aren't necessarily flowers - Ann Springs Greenway

Let's meet and shoot photos at Ann Close Springs Greenway with Gwen!

We have three looks and will I will be bringing lights so we can shoot at dusk.

• Deep coral long gown with gold accent

• Raspberry long gown

• Red plaid shirt with jeans & cowboy boots

We will gather around 6 and expect to start shooting by 6:30 at the latest.

I will bring a couple of alien bees and light modifiers for us to shoot with when the sun starts to go down, but you are welcome to shoot with natural light too.  I will trigger with pocket wizards and encourage you to bring your own triggers, as I will only have a couple to lend out.

Looking forward to taking some great photos with you!

@Madison You're welcome to share your photos online, but I encourage you to give credit to Gwendolyn when you post. The only restriction is that you can't sell any images you took at the meetup, but portfolio use and sharing is just fine.

Chris, what's the flickr tag for this meetup? CPMG90613CullmanPark?

    September 9, 2013

    • Chris B.

We didn't have one, but now yours is the official tag!

You aren't going to believe this, but there is currently an active police investigation going on at the Greenway and it is entirely shut down.

I'm dumbfounded as to how I have offended the photography gods so harshly.

    Updated Directions!!

Come off 485, take 521 S/Johnston, Then Right turn on Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Then take 3rd right onto Rushmore Dr. Then exactly 1/2 mile to lake, which is on the right. Turn right on Harney Drive and park along the curb. 13950 Ballantyne Corporate Place is the address for the Richardson bld, but you cannot see the lake from there. That will take them to the back parking lot. Have everyone meet at the lake on the bridge and surrounding benches
(it's a good place to wait for stragglers) https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=starbuck+ballantyne+nc&fb=1&gl=us&hq=starbuck&hnear=0x88569d2895f6d23b:0x354bc674e1c11c3e,Ballantyne,+Charlotte,+NC&cid=0,0,7172683748428749859&ei=ARUqUtPTBYaK9gSrtYHQAw&ved=0CIoBEPwSMAs

Still can't make it, but I love the way you're rolling with the situation!

      September 6, 2013

    • ~Gwendolyn~

Oh man...Alice Springs is on my bucket list one day Ron!

There is good and bad news. The bad news is that the lady at the greenway misinformed me about the status of the sunflowers. Of the thousands of them, maybe a dozen are still in their prime. However, the good news is that I was able to find lots of great alternatives. See the pictures uploaded to the album for this meetup and pardon that they are quick snaps from my phone.

You're welcome to request a refund in light of this, but we will still have an awesome shoot, so I encourage you to attend. I do not think you will be disappointed.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for being flexible!

If you follow the trail into the park a bit, there is a wooden bridge that spans a creek. you can shoot either on the bridge or in the creek. It's a really neat place for shooting!

Hi Chris, I understand there are some fees for shooting there. Are these covered with the fee?

    September 5, 2013

    • Chris B.

      I'm covering those fees.

      September 5, 2013

    • Chris B.

The permit to publish images taken there is high, so we are not opting to buy a permit ($200)

      September 5, 2013

  • Madison P.

Is the fee for everyone? I just became a pro member, but I'm not sure how to tell which events are included with membership and which are not.

    September 5, 2013

    • Chris B.

Pro membership gets you free entrance to the main monthly meeting. Since there are costs to hosting this event (modeling and equipment), it is the same price for everyone.

      Thanks!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
