Large Format Photography: Portraiture

So far we've cut our teeth with large format cameras and learned the different types.  We've also learned the benefit of these cameras when it comes to closeup photography.  Now we'll turn the cameras on ourselves and learn how they are uniquely suited to shoot portraiture.

Member Mike Baker has graciously offered us the use of his studio in downtown York, SC to host this event.  It is more than fully equipped with lights, props and posing furniture.  We should have a blast creating portraits there.  This will also be the first time we'll be shooting with color film.  Color sheet film does carry some extra costs for the film itself and for processing.  This event fee will cover the costs for each participant to be able to make two portraits and have them processed and scanned.

Fascinating hands-on introduction to large format photography- I'm inspired now to experiment a bit with this. Thanks, Scott for being so patient.

To add to the directions, the studio is in the Rose Apartments building, it's a 3-story historic red brick building building. My bright yellow Nissan Xterra will be parked out front. You can also park along the street and in the large parking lot across the street from the studio.

Chris Jones, I live right near Concord Mills. If that's not out of your way, we could ride together. Text me and we can figure it out. [masked]

    • Scott

a dslr like the rebel is not a large format camera so we won't be using those. cameras are provided at this event b/c we are shooting large format film. however this event is already full. keep your eyes peeled for the next one tho!

I have a Nikon D7000 but I'm still learning the technical ropes. How advanced do I need to be for this workshop? Thanks:)
