Current Experience Level?

In general - intermediate. However, there are areas of photography that I tend to either fumble my way through (e.g. flash) or have had little to no opportunity to explore (e.g. wildlife).

What is your favorite theme you photograph?

I wish I had one! I've no particular niche but, I've begun to develop portfolios of work linked by common themes. I enjoy studio still life photography -- where you have the time and control to explore ideas and light. I find myself avoiding portrait photography -- I don't enjoy the posing or the masks that people tend to wear when they get in front of the lens. Bottom line: I will shoot just about anything and enjoy it.

What do you shoot with?

Canon 5D Mark II

What do you hope to get out of the group?

Opportunity and mentoring. I really love shooting with other people; I find I "see" things I may have otherwise missed or learn to "see" better. It's always a learning experience and I enjoy the companionship of sharing something I love doing -- even if it's mostly silent. I have a couple of buddies where we can talk or shoot in comfortable silence and it's always a treat. I belong to the Columbia Camera Club and wished that the group was more active in terms of outings however, most are "loners" or hold joint membership with CNPA and tend to reserve their time for CNPA-related photography. If I lived closer to Charlotte I would be a very active member as you seem to have so many wonderful workshops and thoughtful shooting opportunities.

I've always been captivated by images -- but it wasn't until 2004 when I treated myself to a digital Point and Shoot and began to explore the possibilities. In 2005 I purchased my first DSLR -- I've gone from hobby to passion.
