Current Experience Level?

Beginner-ish. I've been taking candids for years, and took a photography class in college, back when you had to develop and print your own black and white film. Back then I took pictures on a vintage Brownie, and a Miranda 35mm SLR. In my career as a graphic designer, I handle a lot of pictures day to day, using photoshop etc, so I'm coming at it from the back side. I understand how to organize and retouch, just need to spend some time behind the viewfinder!

What is your favorite theme you photograph?

My favorite subject is some run-down building with interesting decaying details. I love old mills, factories, falling-down houses... and landscapes and outdoor scenery... textures... crowds of people... shooting in the dark... sometimes flora, or fauna if I'm quick enough.

What do you shoot with?

Nikon D3100 with the two kit lenses, SP700 speedlight. And a Fuji point and shoot. And I have a Pentax film SLR that's maybe 10 years old which I'll admit I haven't touched in quite a while.

What do you hope to get out of the group?

Comfortable with my Nikon camera in and its capabilities, and shooting digital in general. Some direction, feedback and exercises to help me improve my skills. Practice, practice, practice!

To learn more about photography, of course! And to meet other like-minded folks.
