Weekly Charlotte Scrabble Club Meetup

  • This location is shown only to members

We'll try to get in 3 or 4 games each meet; each game is approximately 1 hour when you use a long you stay is up to you.  Bring gridded Scrabble boards, racks, protiles (these tiles have no imprint so one cannot feel letters on the tiles in the bag) and timers/clocks if you have them, a pen and scoring papers (I'll bring extras).  At this early stage of the club meetings, it would help if everyone could RSVP, so that we know we'll have enough equipment to go around.  I'll have lists that would help beginners to tournament style Scrabble, such as 2 and 3 letter word lists and intros to this type of play... you can use these lists  and have free challenges if playing someone with tournament experience for your first month of playing.

We'll have players of all different levels of expertise, and after a couple of months, should be able to match people of similar skills and be able to handicap unevenly matched players. Please don't feel discouraged or intimidated if you don't win your first few games...practice improves your game.

A donation of $1.00/meet/per person is appreciated to offset fees for meetup site and printing costs.  Since Panera's doesn't charge us for use of their facility, please patronize this store by purchasing something to eat or drink, exercise courtesy and try to return chairs & tables back to their original location. Lack of patronizing or tidying has been the death of many venues.

If anyone has a question or would prefer meeting at my home to practice or learn more before going to Panera Bread, please let me know.  I can run an intro meeting on a different night.

Look forward to seeing you over the board!!

Just a reminder that we are having a meeting this week and please try to rsvp and bring your game and equipment if you have...we ran short on timers last week. Some of our players are participating in the Durham tournament this weekend, which is a charity tourney which raises money for Duke University Hospital's Pediatric Cancer Center. Look forward to seeing you across the board!!
