Dinner & Author Interaction: Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs & Wear Cows

Bean Vegan Cuisine is hosting a presentation by acclaimed author and psychologist Dr. Melanie Joy at 5:00pm on November 25, 2012. Dr. Joy’s presentation is based on her award-winning book Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows: An Introduction to Carnism.

Dr. Joy will explain carnism, the invisible belief system that shapes our perceptions of the meat we eat, so that we love some animals and eat others without knowing why.

To be respectful of Dr. Joy, we will hold off on eating until she has finished presenting, but we can go ahead and place our orders at 5:00 and the kitchen can have them ready by 7:15 pm.

Hi Tammi, most of us were not born vegetarian/vegan, I sure wasn't but I feel great knowing that I live true to my beliefs today. I hope you will keep an open mind and heart and join us!

I am not a Vegetarian but I am interested in it and wondering if it is somthing I could do. I hate the way farm animals are treated.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
