I upgraded the iOS version on my iPad and now I cannot use it for development. I get the following error when looking at the iPad device in Organizer

"The version of iOS on "Sean iPad' does not match any versions of the iOS supported for development...

The iPad is running 5.1 (9B176) and my laptop is running Snow Leopard with the latest XCode version. Do I have to upgrade my laptop to Lion or is there another way?

You definitely have to upgrade XCode. Based on the version that is available in dev center, the XCode for SL only covers through iOS 5. The Lion version covers 5.1. So, it looks like you need to upgrade to Lion as well..

Yes this is a nasty trap Apple springs for you, and it takes a long, long, long time and a decent amount of work to get all the way up the OS and Xcode chain. Good luck, it's not a ton of fun.
