Ladies NoDable Brew - Part 1

Join us on Sunday, October 13th for the first stage of an exciting event with NoDa Brewing Company! NoDa Brewing has been kind enough to invite the Charlotte Beer Babes to brew a beer for release as a part of their NoDable series on November 19th, but we need to brew the beer first. This first part of the event will involve an introduction to the brewing process as Lisa Johnson, of the Carolina Brewmasters, takes the lead in helping to brew our beer.

Your votes came in and the Sweet Potato Porter was the clear winner! Here is an update on the recipe from Lisa: "Final recipe for Sunday's brew: 12 lbs of sweet potatoes mixed with 2 lbs of brown sugar, pre-cooked and added to the boil, 18 lbs marris otter, 1.5 lbs chocolate malt, 1.5 lbs crystal 80L, 0.5 lbs roasted barley. Hops include northern brewer, willamette, and fuggles. Some surprise spices to be added at the end of the boil, come watch!"

This will be a great opportunity to learn a bit more about home brewing in case you've been considering giving it a try. Plus, there will be prizes, good company, and most importantly - great beer from NoDa Brewing!

Had a great time yesterday and think we brewed a good one. Thanks for organizing Tracie and thanks to those that brought their home brews and snacks to share!

So are we actually helping brew the beer that is going to be released in November?? I'm a home brewer and this would seriously be AMAZING!

It's a safe bet that it will last for a number of hours through the afternoon.
