You guys need two people to fill in today?

    March 17, 2013

  • Dustin H.

Still planning to play, just can't make this session.

    March 15, 2013

  • Jody

I just don't think I can do this. Sorry guys.

    Is this the FF version?

    March 7, 2013

    • Dustin H.

It's the second edition, which was produced by FF, but isn't the current version on their website.

      March 7, 2013

    • Aaron

I know I mentioned both versions, but the one we are playing is the one that I gave you a pdf for (2nd edtion)

At the risk of frustrating some of you, I've decided to go with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition. This is a rules light system. If the group does not enjoy it, we can then switch to Hackmaster or back to Pathfinder. I am still very interested in running Hackmaster at some point, but have decided to delay that for a few reasons: 1)Not yet a complete game: While reading the rules I came across several parts that referred to rules in the GM Guide. This book isn't out yet, but should be soon. We have enough to play, but being new to the system I'd rather have the whole picture. 2)Complexity: part of my wanting a break from running Pathfinder was to try a more simple system, and, while Hackmaster looks awesome, it's definitely not rules light. 3)The campaign setting material I bought was lost in the mail, and may or may not turn up in time. 4)One of the books on the release schedule is a setting book for the area I was planning on setting the adventure in.

This system is confusing to me. Are the careers classes? I am not sure how it works.

      March 7, 2013

    • Aaron

There are no classes, only careers. They are like mini-classes. You will start with a career, which defines your abilities/skills and which ability/skill "advancements" you can make, and when you take all the advancements, you complete the career and you will move into a new career. You retain the old abilities and start gaining new ones determined by your new career. There are no levels...for every 100 xp you get (which takes about 1 game session), you can take an advancement (improve a skill, ability, etc).

I cannot WAIT to join this group when it becomes the Original D&D Group in 2 weeks!

      Sounds like a great game.

I have created two Craig's to date, no plans for more however. Humanity might be safe. I don't know about Xander though.

I can't make this Sunday, I'll be in Virginia Beach.

Will you be gone on Saturday as well? We could also start the campaign on 3/31. Alternatively, I can run a short intro scenario for you to make up for the missed session.

      March 4, 2013

    • Dustin H.

I will be gone that whole weekend, starting Friday. I'd definitely be up for a short session during the week.

Warhammer 2nd - I haven't managed to read the rules, but character creation looks grim and awesome. I'd definitely be interested in trying out this system.

Since there is about a month between game sessions for many of us, would anybody be interested in a one shot or starting a Thursday night campaign?

    February 19, 2013

    • Xander C.

Ice Age! haha. How often would this be? I'm interested depending on the level of commitment.

      February 20, 2013

    • Dustin H.

Every other week at most. Thursday is becoming my only board game night, so I don't want to start giving that up every week.

As a ranger I get half cost purchase of swimming, which only costs 1. Does that mean I can buy it twice for 1bp?

    February 19, 2013

    • Xander C.

I managed to roll really well on Cooking, and very poorly on Survival. At least I have my skill priorities straight.

      February 20, 2013

  • Aaron

Ok, I guess there was a bit of confusion about dates. It looks like the Pathfinder game some of us are playing in on the other Sundays will start on March 10th and every 2 weeks thereafter, and can't start on March 3rd. This means Hackmaster will be on 3/17, 3/31, 4/14, etc. Sorry about that Xander.....I hope you can still play.

I know it's short notice, but does anyone want to go to GaryCon with me? Its March 14th-17th in Lake Geneva, WI. It is a convention devoted to Gary Gygax, who invented D&D. The focus is old-school gaming, but there will be a bunch of other games also. There are plenty of Hackmaster, Basic D&D, AD&D, and even some Pathfinder games going on.

    February 18, 2013

    • Craig G.

      Sounds awesome...but can't do it.

      February 18, 2013

    • Aaron

Looks like most of the games have filled up, so maybe next year since we know about it now.

      February 18, 2013

So Hackmaster Player's Handbook PDF is $40?!?!?!?! The printed version is $60?!?!?!?!

    That's crazy.

    February 13, 2013

  • Aaron

Ok....so I originally thought I would run a Hackmaster game about once a month for a group and continue with Pathfinder Runelords, so I mentioned Hackmaster to a couple people to see if they wanted to play. I then decided I'd much rather run Hackmaster for the regular game and give Pathfinder a break. Also, Craig and Aidan are about done with their Sunday commitment. Xander was filling in for them, but it would be great if he could still play. This means we now have 8+ players, which is way too many for one game. I would love to find a spot for everyone. Does anyone have an interest in running a Pathfinder game? I can lend most any books you may need.

    February 12, 2013

    • Dustin H.

I would be willing to run a Pathfinder game. Some issues would need to be worked out with logistics, as I don't have a place to host and my weekends tend to be sketchy. The AP I'd be interested in running are Way of the Wicked (PCs are evil), Reign of Winter (coming out this month). If they don't sound interesting, I'd be up for pretty much anything, except for Kingmaker.

I am working on Nick. He's a great DM so I'm trying to get him to volunteer....think I'm close to having him convinced. :)

      February 12, 2013

  • Xander C.

This is the right weekend but I will be out of the country on this specific date.

    February 9, 2013

  • Craig G.

    Aidan too

    February 9, 2013

  • Aaron

Please correct me Meghan and Xander if I chose the wrong date.... I know we talked about shifting the every-other-week schedule by one.
