CoveCon - Your Backyard Gaming Con

  • Apr 27, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

CoveCon is a Film/Gaming Mini Convention in your own back yard! CoveCon features two tracks filling a total of twelve hours from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. Saturday April 27th.  CoveCon will take place at a residence at Lake Monticello in Fluvanna County and is open to two meetup groups, The Charlottesville Gaming Group and The Charlottesville Movie Fans Meetup Group.  The goal of CoveCon is to bring together local game/film enthusiasts.

CoveCon will make every attempt to work and feel like a large convention but in a shorter time and at no cost to you.  One of the two tracks is the gaming track.  CoveCon will have two rooms dedicated to gaming.  One room will have two 8 foot tables and contain the library of games that can be taken off the shelf and played.  The second room, the garage, will contain at least 4 tables.  Different gaming sessions will be run throughout the day and gamers are welcome and encouraged to bring their own game to run and share with the group.

CoveCon is proud to announce it's Guest Of Honor!  Bruce GlassCo, PVCC professor, science fiction writer and Designer of the game Betrayal at House on the Hill will be at CoveCon!

Bruce will be demoing 'Betrayal' and other games he has created as well as answering questions from 4-7 PM.  More information about Bruce and Betrayal can be found at the following links...

Good times man! I liked Zombie Dice and the Monsters blah blah blah Tokyo games! Glad the Cannonballs went over well! The movie theater rocked as usual, (memories). Great layout in the garage too! I'm fully expecting Cave-Con 2014!!! Make it happen! If you're in a new house... Make it happen anyway! ;) I'm using far too many exclamation points! Might I also suggest an official Cove-Con Facebook page (The Horror!) I know... :) See you soon! PS EXCLAMATION POINT!

We just found out our babysitter is not available until 1 pm. Anyone that plays a game with my daughter will get extra raffle tickets. :)

If people would like to meet, I can drive. My car can handle 4 comfortably, 5 if the back seat feels like getting to know each other.

I'll be there the whole time. I don't know what the best meeting place would be, can you park at the visitors center below PVCC? If not, there is a Food Lion up the road.

Just a reminder to sign up for the potluck if you haven't already (and thanks to those who have). Main course is looking to be a choice of pulled pork or shredded chicken sandwiches, but we could still use some sides, as well as cups, plates, plasticware, napkins... and snacks. Always snacks.

Hello! 18 days until CoveCon! I will try and share information to make everything go smoother over the next couple of weeks. If anyone has any questions please post them or email me. One thing I would recommend is car pooling if you can. There will be less parking headaches that way. We do have 2 driveways, one very large, another medium sized that can hold quite a few cars and you can park along Trout Point. DO NOT park on Jefferson Street. The police will make you move.

I am trying to think of a good solution for food, so people do not have to leave to eat if they would rather not. I have a couple ideas but if you have any suggestions please post them or email me. The refrigerator will be full of water and cheap soda.

We will have prizes for Ninja! - Silent But Deadly and swag bags with official CoveCon merchandise. :) Looking forward to a day of fun!

1 Month 'til CoveCon! April 27th is coming fast be, ready for movies, games and fun! I would like to announce 'Ninja - Silent but deadly!' at CoveCon. Everyone attending will be a part of this game, there is no way out. When you arrive you will be given an envelope, In that envelope will either be a blank card (more than likely a junk Magic card) or a 'Ninja - You Lose!' card. The object of the game is to unknowingly get others to find the card throughout the day. The person that found the card then finds another unsuspecting victim and hides the card for them to find. Points are awarded for stealth and originality. The person with the most points at the end of the day wins! I may even have a prize for the winner. So come might be the Ninja's next victim!
