CoveCon is a Film/Gaming Mini Convention in your own back yard! CoveCon features two tracks filling a total of twelve hours from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. Saturday April 27th. CoveCon will take place at a residence at Lake Monticello in Fluvanna County and is open to two meetup groups, The Charlottesville Gaming Group and The Charlottesville Movie Fans Meetup Group. The goal of CoveCon is to bring together local game/film enthusiasts.
CoveCon will make every attempt to work and feel like a large convention but in a shorter time and at no cost to you. One of the two tracks is the gaming track. CoveCon will have two rooms dedicated to gaming. One room will have two 8 foot tables and contain the library of games that can be taken off the shelf and played. The second room, the garage, will contain at least 4 tables. Different gaming sessions will be run throughout the day and gamers are welcome and encouraged to bring their own game to run and share with the group.
GUEST OF HONOR:
CoveCon is proud to announce it's Guest Of Honor! Bruce GlassCo, PVCC professor, science fiction writer and Designer of the game Betrayal at House on the Hill will be at CoveCon!
Bruce will be demoing 'Betrayal' and other games he has created as well as answering questions from 4-7 PM. More information about Bruce and Betrayal can be found at the following links...
This group is intended to be a meeting place for anybody in the Charlottesville-Staunton-Harrisonburg area who enjoys card games, board games, miniatures games, roleplaying games, or war games. Everybody is welcome.
Would you like to meet a group of friendly local gamers at a public venue?
We currently have 2 weekly board game meetings in Charlottesville, on Thursday and Saturday nights, and one game meeting every other Saturday in Lake Monticello in Palmyra, VA (about a 25 minute drive from Charlottesville). We play a wide variety of games, and we are willing to teach new players. Sometimes members will mention in the event's comments which games they're bringing. Attending one of these three meetings is a great way to get connected into the group and start meeting other gamers.
Thursdays @ 5:30 PM - Beer and Board Games@ West Main Restaurant (333 West Main Street, Charlottesville)
Saturdays from 5-10 PM - Saturday Game Night@ Rail Tales (705c Dale Avenue, Charlottesville)
Every other Saturday from 6-10 PM - Lake Monticello Board Game Club (Lake Monticello Clubhouse, downstairs)
Own a game and looking for players?
Hit "Suggest a Meetup" on the main group page to start a meetup, or hit the discussion button and start a discussion, or just bring the game to one of the 2 regular weekly meetings.
Want to play a game you don't own?
Go to "Discussion" and choose the discussion titled "Game Collections." Browse different members' game collections, and if you see a game you'd like to try, message the owner to see if he/she will post a meetup for the game or bring it to one of the 2 regular weekly meetings. You can click on any game in the game lists and it will take you to a site with reviews, pictures, and more information about the game. You can also start a new discussion on the discussion board.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the group organizer, by clicking the contact button on the left side of the main group screen (about halfway down, right underneath the picture of a person).
