RPG: Star Wars - Edge of the Empire

Game is full.

I'm looking for several brave souls to participate in grim and gritty adventures in places where morality is gray and nothing is certain.

Ply your trade as a smuggler in the Outer Rim, collect bounties on the scum that live in the shadows of Coruscant, or try to establish a new colony on a planet beneath the Empire’s notice.

So, who is starting a cantina band with me?

Alright, can't hold it back any longer... lol. Phew, yeah, have a taste of this group's pc's already! Cantina bands, strippers, and jedi (to be) ewoks.

Matthew, are you planning to us one of the published adventures or are you going to make up one of your own. I was going to read the one from the Beginner Game to try and understand the mechanics a little better, but will avoid doing that if you planned to use it. I don't want to start reading one of the adventures accidentally.

Good. Please don't. Not sure I'm going to use it fully but might take some elements from it.

No problem. Shame the Free RPG Day Black Sun adventure isn't on the FFG site yet. You could use that instead.

If anyone is looking for the Core Rulebook or the dice locally, Atlas Comics had a good supply of both as of late last week. There were at least two copies of the book and three sets of dice. The books are $60 and the dice are $14.95. I don't think the store is open on Mondays.

If you are looking for an electronic version of the dice, FFG has an app in the Android (Both the Google Play and the Amazon App Store) and iOS stores for $4.99 under the name "Star Wars Dice". It IS a pretty nice app, but not sure about the price yet. I've also seen a couple other dice utilities for a little lower price.

So what's everybody thinking about for characters? I'm leaning towards a dashade marauder or a selkath doctor

I don't have the book with me so I could be wrong in my assessment. I was reading earlier in character generation and would swear it said an extra 10 in the example because it wasn't a skull set associated with the career. Of course as in all games it is up to the GM. The idea of the penalty is to dissuade someone from using the Force Sensitive. I wonder what the Force Emergent will be like in AoR?

I asked the brain trust in the EotE G+ group and one of the answers I got suggests that birth handsets are right. The second non-career specialization is 30 points, but the FSE is only 20 points. Which makes me think I might give FSE a try as well. But I'm waiting to see some other opinions.

Irony - I missed this invitation for having been at GenCon! Have fun!

    August 19, 2013

    • Scott G.

Yeah I meant AoR. Unfortunately FFG won't say when it will be available for those of us who were unable to attend GenCon.

      August 24, 2013

    • Vincent A.

Would you like to borrow AoR?

Should we come with a character or will our first session be character creation?

    August 20, 2013

    • Dustin H.

Dang, that means I have to wait on making an Ewok force exile

      ^I approve of this.

  • Korey K.

Are we limited to a certain set of races?

    August 17, 2013

    • Scott G.

Official EotE races are Bothans, Droids, Gands, Humans, Rodians, Trandoshans, Twi'leks, and Wookies. BTW, Trandoshans and Wookies come from the same system and hate each other. Probably comes from the fact that the Empire uses the Trandoshans to hunt and enslave Wookies.

      August 17, 2013

    • Scott G.

The Age of Rebellion will have Droids and Humans (and Bothans) as the official races, and add the Duros, Ithorians, Mon Cals, and Sullistans as the core races, although since EotE and AoR are supposed to use the same core rules you can probably use the EotE races in AoR.

Aww, the game is full! I really wanted to play! If you have an opening, please let me know! Thanks so much!

Sorry, I will let you know. I think there is enough demand to support another group if you want to GM.

    Wow, that filled up quickly.

Here are some useful files you will need.

I've got the game (Pretty much everything for it, including three sets of dice and two of the core rulebooks), but that Sunday at this point is bad for me.

BTW, FFG has announced the beta for the next game in the series, Age of Rebellion. It is supposed to be released in the next couple of days and available at FFG and "select retailers" as a 224-page softcover for $30. My guess is sometime during GenCon. Basic rules are supposed to be the same, but they will add additional races, replace Obligation with Duty, new classes and specializations (including a new Force specialization). Link: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=245&esem=1

I've also got a pretty nice document that expands the number of races for the games from other sources in the Expanded Universe.

      August 15, 2013

  • Matt Y.

I'm flexible on dates if that would help.

    August 15, 2013

I could make it if it's run earlier in the day. Would that be a possibility? This is an RPG I'd really like to try out, I also have the rulebook and two sets of dice.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
