Lughnassadh is the ancient fire festival, and one of the Great Sabbats, when Pagans mark the shortening days and celebrate the first harvest. His death reflected the dying of Lugh, the Sun God. The waning light heralded the coming of darkness and winter. The Goddess become the Reaper, and attends the God in His passing. Sober but not tragic, as the God says in

The Lord of the Dance

I sleep in the kernel and I dance in the rain;

I dance in the wind and in the waving grain;

And when you cut me down I care nothing for the pain:

In the spring I’m the Lord of the Dance once again!

A time for sharing so bring foods of all kinds to share, eg: corn, berries, apple cider, wine in a plastic bottle, corn bread, grained bread, grape juice, veggies, fruits etc.

Attuning to the season by sacrificing whatever is inappropriate in our lives, like fear or unrealistic expectations; by completing all projects and goals. Accept the responsibility as well as the rewards of our labors.

You can also bring the tools of your trade whatever it is to be blessed and thank the God/Goddess for their many blessings and your continued success. This symbolizes your ability to produce results. It will also ensure the satisfactory completion of your work, or bountiful harvest, at the Autumn Equinox to follow. Many successes to you all.

BRING HAND INSTRUMENTS -- drums, flutes, tambourines, claves, maracas, etc. AS IT IS A GREAT TIME FOR DANCING AND MERRIMENT.

Attire: suggested attire color white, black, yellow, orange (not required for attendance).

A fee of $10.00 in person $11.00 via online payments is required. (please bring receipt of online payment).

Payments online www./ or

      Please walk towards the central garden. There is a water fountains in a gazebo like structure. They are near that. Look for the black woman with a walker. That is Starr. I am unfortunately unable to make it tonight, but know where we meet.

    So it's at 7? I'm a little confused about what's going on. There are three different times xD From when to when exactly will it be?

    I would love to attend & have RSVP, but they're are going to be thunderstorms and rain tomorrow, so I'm hoping you have an indoor alternative in Manhattan? I need to arrange handicap accessible transportation by 3PM Thurs for my metal walker (reason why I won't be outdoors during a T-Storm), so can someone send me a message or email please? Also I have questions about how to participate in the ritual. What's the format, chants, songs, & how to ask for help for the God & Goddess?

      After checking many weather channels, we are doing it in the park as originally planned, They predict, cloudy with 10% chance of rain at 5 pm and 0% chance at rain after that, and rain is supposed to fall at 3am in the morning. So looks like we are on for the Park Yeah!! Lughnassadh In the Park..... :-) <3

      As the forecast is for cloudy skies and not rain until the wee hours, the ritual will be in the park.

    What bus or train is close to the ritual site, East 9th bet Ave A &B? I'll bring some food to share and Wine.Even though it's not the 16th Century or Ancient
    time, it is truly a Magical Time we are living in. Since the last Sabbat Beltaine with your group a few good magical things have occured: Some money i didn't know I was owed is on it's way to me. I have found my
    magical staff or rather the staff has found me and I found healing and ritual herbs at the Witchfest 2014. Looking forward to being with kindred souls again.

      The M14A bus heading East will take you right in front of the park when you get off at East 9th St. /Avenue A. or the M8 bus heading East and get off at Avenue A / St. Marks Place. Hope this helps.

    I've been so busy and haven't been able to attend any recent sabbats so I'm very grateful I can make this one. I really enjoyed the full moon ritual with all of you lovely people last month :) I look forward to seeing you again!

      Please ask someone who is in the ritual to share with you. Most of the songs are easy and are repetitive.
