After Work Hump Day Hike to Sunset Rock

After Work Hump Day Hike

Sunset Rock

Meeting Time: 5:30pm

Meeting Location: Nature Center

Hiking Distance: approximately 4 miles

Hike Rating: moderate with some difficult sections

Hiking Time: approximately 2 hours

Please RSVP with integrity.

Only RSVP yes if you truly intend to participate.

Join us for a hike up Lookout Mountain to Sunset Rock.

The hike will begin at the base of Lookout Mountain near the Nature Center.  Almost the entire hike, you will be climbing a steep ascent of nearly 1300 feet, or returning down the same.  It will be a good cardio workout for sure.  If you have knee issues, this may not be the hike for you.  This is a 'nice workout' hike with sweet views.

It shouldn't be dark before we complete this hike, but just in case, you may want to bring a headlamp or flashlight.  It's always best to be prepared.

Please be sure to dress appropriately according to seasonal temperatures/weather.

NO-SHOWS: As with all Meetups, if you are a "YES" and you discover you cannot come, please be polite and change your RSVP to a "NO" as soon as possible.  Don't be a "no-show".  Also, It isn't necessary to RSVP "not going" for an event, unless you are changing your yes rsvp to no. For the most part, we need only know if you ARE GOING!

Organizers try to ensure that we don't leave anyone behind, and if we are waiting on you when you know that you are not coming, it only holds up the group unnecessarily.  Please be considerate.

WEATHER: As with all outdoor events, if it's raining/stormy or very poor trail conditions, we may have to cancel.  If the weather is questionable, please check this event page before you leave home.

An Ideal hike for conditioning with quite a view from the top. A big thanks to Greg for leading the hike and for the wolf story :-)

'Twas a Fun one! Purrfect Weather, Many more flowers than expected and a Great Group of Hikers who appreciated being there, communing with Nature! Thks for coming out, Folks! :-) Was trying to keep track of wild flowers. Went something like this: Bluestar, Violet, Rue Anemone, Trillium, Harbinger of Spring, Birdfoot Violet and as always a few...'Oh that's pretty, wonder what it is' Flowers. Happy Trails! G

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
