DATE:  Sunday April 27th

TIME:  3pm

Meeting Location:  Grundy Lakes parking lot

Cost:  Free

Trip Leader:   Park Greer

Meet Ranger Park at the Grundy Lakes parking lot for a fun day out on the lake. This event is FREE OF CHARGE.  You are responsible for bringing your own canoe/kayak, paddles, life jackets, etc. for this event. This trip will be an interpretive experience exploring the ecology of the lakes area.

PLEASE DO NOT RSVP FOR THIS EVENT

Please meet at the South Cumberland Visitor Center between 2:35 and 2:40.  The group will need to depart from there by 2:45, so please arrive early or on time.

To get to the visitor center, take I24 west from Chattanooga to exit 135.  Make a right.  In approximately half a mile, turn right onto Fairmont Ave.  In a quarter mile, make a slight right onto US41.  The visitor center will be on your left in just over 2 miles.

There is not really an address for the parking lot of the put-in, but it is well marked: From the South Cumberland Visitor's Center on 41, drive 3 miles into Tracy City.  Turn RIGHT at the SECOND stoplight. Drive 1.5 miles. Turn LEFT onto Lakes Road.  Arrive in Parking Lot on the Left.

Met a group of nice people, gained a good bit of local knowledge from Park Greer. And everyone gained some safety training on how to right a capsized canoe. Very enjoyable afternoon

Sure wish the gentleman who took pictures would post some of them. I was in the boat that flipped, and would love to have a souvenir picture!
