What we’re about
"I chose the road less travelled… Now I don’t know where I am."
"Never follow someone else's path unless you're in the woods and you're lost, and you see a path. By all means, you should follow that." - Ellen Degeneres
"Bring a compass. It's awkward when you have to eat your friends." - Unknown
So maybe we caught your interest?
Quick note then I’ll tell you what we’re about. We’ve never gotten lost or had to look at members as a food source. This is Chattanooga Outdoor Adventures not the Donner Party (some of you will get that).
We enjoys the outdoors in all forms. Events like Hiking, Rafting, Kayaking, and everything else.
But wait there’s more! I sound like a Ginsu knife commercial. Let’s not let any of the Donners have one of those.
We also plan other great activities in and around Chattanooga. Not just hiking. Musical events, food and wine festivals. A concert in a cave, you get the idea
It’s an open group and would love to get everyone involved and plan a lot of different things. Inclusion and fun are key.
Not just hiking, Adventures of all kinds
Upcoming events (4+)

Edit: We could meet at Food City in Red Bank if we want to carpool. Let me know in the comments
I even found a Monkey Hiking to bring the Hike and lunch themes together for you. The lengths I go to for all of you....
Anyways in the spirit of being succinct which I am known for in my write-ups (shout out to everyone who is rolling their eyes at that) I will be brief I have had a couple of other things to plan and do today.
This will be a Sunday hike. Switch it up a bit from the Saturday stuff.
Here is the deal. I found a hike that's really nice and closer to town.
Details
Distance 3.1 miles out and back for a grand total of 6.2 miles
Elevation Change 1,276 feet
Rating Moderately Difficult
Description This hike starts at what is locally known as the Blue Holes Parking lot. This out-and-back is a great hike that has wonderful three-season views, two man-made staircases and platforms, and three waterfalls. It’s an intermediate hike due to loose rocks and altitude gain.
What to Bring Really? You know this. Wear some good boots. Probably some poles if you have them, snacks, water, dress for the weather, cross for vampires, full trauma kit, ten days of MREs, those little Wal-mart brand smiley face fruit snacks (enough of those to share with me. I like those), rice crispy treats too, change of underwear in case there is a bear and you're not the slowest hiker. C'mon you got this part! Its just a day hike. Serious on those Wal-mart smiley face fruit snacks though. i don't think there are any bears in the area so change of skivvies is optional.
Heres a link to more info on the Trail
Stevenson Branch FallsAfter I always like to share a pint and a meal. It builds camaraderie. By Share I mean time. You'll have to buy your own beer and food. Although... If I do get their Irish Nacho's I will share those. The serving is huge, but to be clear not my beer.
Sharing is caring. I will share all the care I have for you, but I have to draw the line at sharing a really good stout.

Monkey Town Brewing Company Chattanooga - RESCHEDULED Counting Cascades - A Day of Chasing Waterfalls in HelenNeeds location
RESCHEDULED! My daughter's club team picked up one last tournament and I have to reschedule this to May 4th.
We are going to the Mountains for a day and catching a lot of waterfalls! Carpooling will be available, but be aware - if you get in a car with someone, you are required to leave when they leave and stay until they leave. We will also be choosing the vehicles that are highest off the ground. A couple of these waterfalls have reviews about bumpy roads.
Stop 1:
Helton Creek Falls - .3 miles.

We will likely eat here again this summer when I make a float event. I love it. Great german food.
HofbrauhausWhen we get to Helen, it will be up to you and whomever is in your car if you want to hang out around Helen and shop.
I will be making another trip to Helen this summer to raft on the Hiwassee and there will be ample time on that event to shop. I wanted to catch the flowing falls on this trip as the main point of interest. We will set a carpool somewhere around Cleveland is my suggestions. We will discuss that in the group chat as well.
We will meet at carpool spot at 8 a.m. I will update location when we decide.
PLEASE BRING FOOD. We will definitely still be exploring during lunch and would hate for anyone to get overly hungry.
A change of socks and maybe water shoes is recommended in case you want to get in the water.
Bring cash for parks. I think some have a parking fee.
Cash for dinner/shopping.
Help your driver with gas please.

Okay I am a little pressed for time so I will briefish. You know I can't do just a few sentences.
The weekend of this Hike will be May the Fourth. Also know as Star Wars Day. In this day and time we have a day for everything. It has gotten ridiculous.
Like
Doggy Date Night-To be clear it's for dogs Feb. 3rd. What were you thinking?
National Tater Tot Day-It's overshadowed by Groundhog day on the same day. Feb. 2nd.-There's way way more.
Even some obscure, but possibly really happy days like...
National x spouse day- This day is celebrated on April 14th. This holiday is to celebrate one’s former life partner or their absence. I know which for me.So if I have to explain why May the Fourth you're clearly not a Star Wars fan, but on Star Wars day we can hike Window Cliffs. Even though National Window day is June 1st. It's true they even get a day.
So what is Window Cliffs? According to Wikipedia (Wikipedia Day is on or around January 15) it is this...
"The Window Cliffs State Natural Area covers 275 acres in Putnam County, Tennessee, near Cookeville. The Window Cliffs is the name of a prominent group of natural bridges in a narrow 200-foot-tall ridge in the neck of a meander of Cane Creek."
Google some pictures of it. It is really cool. (National Google day September 15th)
According to All Trails (They have no National day) It is this.
Window Cliffs Trail5.3 miles. 662' elevation change. There are some creeks crossings bring some poles, a pair of dry shoes, and clean socks. Or dirty, but dry socks that are not stinky. Snacks, water, Sandra Bullock, and some Double Stuff Oreos. Read the trail reviews on All Trails for more.
So where am I going with all this date stuff? The next day is May fifth... Cinco De mayo.
Fun fact it is a U.S. Holiday. Cinco de Mayo is a celebration created by and for Latino communities in the United States.
So we have Mexican on the way home in honor of an American made Holiday and Irony (Irony sadly has no National day,) at El Meson San Pedro Mexican Restaurant in Sparta No Website.
May the Fourth be with you and may you Hike on the Fourth with us.
