This year's night of photo setups will feature two stations:
Station 1: Product Photography with John Alexanian
John, who works at New York Camera and Video in Southampton, will show members how to take professional quality photographs of small items.
Whether you want to shoot items for sale on eBay or craigslist, need accurate photographs for insurance or documentation, or want to learn to control light precisely for still life images, the skills you will learn will come in handy.
John will demonstrate how to control light so that the objects you capture will have precisely the amount of shadows and reflective highlights you desire.
Feel free to bring a small item to shoot.
Station 2: Models
We will have a studio lighting area with models for members to pose and photograph. A number of softboxes and reflectors will be provided so that you can see how to control the quality, intensity, and direction of light for best results.
Whether you are planning to make formal portraits or simply want to learn how to solve lighting problems in or out of the studio, you will carry away some tips on how to make better images.
We will use continuous lighting (not strobes) so that everyone will have a chance to get in plenty of shooting.
Should be a great night of learning!
