The Why of Test Driven

OK, no more skirting around the issue, March's meet-up is going to be no holds barred 'Agile'! We've got esteemed Agile Coach James Scrimshire coming over from Wales with a big bag of Lego to run a workshop on "The why of Test Driven". He's just done it with the Bath Scrum User Group and it was a great success (I got on the wrong train and missed it so hopefully we'll have better luck if he comes to us ;))

James describes it as "A controversial and fun look at the role of QA in software production. Play with Lego and call it work!"

James spends his free time mostly dreaming up more ways to use Zombies as a coaching tool and running http://hurricanefour.com/. You can find him on twitter @Scrimmers

As usual they'll be lots of time for drinks and discussion, looking forward to catching up.

This is going to be fun :)

Was hoping for a little more meat and depth, but I guess then it would have been called "The How of Test Driven." Enjoyed the games though and James' presentation was well done.

I'd have like a more in depth approach. I suspect for the large number of IT professionals present that they would not have taken away a great deal of new insight from the presentation. Shame, because this is something I really want to learn more on.

Hi Nic, thanks for the feedback. I'd welcome any suggestions to improve the session.

I took away a valuable insight into the importance of creating test cases before doing any development but I felt that just as things were getting really interesting after the first couple of games - the session diverted off into a further game on the different topic of specification when a the learning from the first games could have been further developed.

Enjoyed the presentation and games. It's great to hear the principles of agile reiterated.

    Venue was too noisey
Presentation was brilliant, exercises were fantastic fun, though not sure the points intended to be made were made ;) we were all too good at Lego and less good at writing test scripts!

Just chatted to Greg at The Langton about the noise. We are going to look into unplugging those speakers, also the next meetup is on a Monday so the place should be quieter anyway.

Really enjoyed the talk/games, even though I did think James was rather preaching to the converted. Only three stars because the background music did make it harder to hear. Hopefully that won't be the case on a different day of the week - liked the room apart from the music.

Thanks to everyone who came, I'll have a chat to the Langton about the sound and see what we can do. I really like the room so I hope we can sort it out
