Open Space Night

Have you got:

a question you'd like to ask our other amazing geeks?

a project you'd like to talk about?

a problem you'd like help solving?

a idea or prototype you'd like to get feedback on?

Well you're in luck because May's Geeknight is an open space night. Come along with an idea, question or something interesting you'd like to tell us about, stick it on a card we'll work through them all, splitting into 15 minute slots and separate groups if necessary, you can vote with your feet.

Even if you can't think of anything right now coming along and help the rest of us, maybe you'll be inspired

It's in your hands so don't blame me if it's a disaster ;)

As I was leaving I was asked the software used for the 'slideshow'.
It was impress.js which is free alternative to prezi from http://bartaz.github.io/impress.js

Thanks Jon. All the best with deriving an algorithm for your printer - a good challenge.

Really enjoyed the cool stuff some of the other guys are doing. Found it really inspiring

Good to meet up with some like minded people and to see some interesting projects.

Great presentations - I think that this format could work if used sparingly, say 3 time a year maybe? Good luck to all presenters with progressing their projects further.

Thanks for everyone that came along and especially those who contributed, it was great to see what everyone is up to

If anyone's used to AngularJS I may have a really really stupid newbie question for them if they have a spare 5 mins to point out what I'm doing wrong (unlikely to be of general interest)

    May 20, 2013

    • Jez P.

I'm sure you both will be - it's a really basic question. I'll dig out my very trivial code to bring along. Thanks in advance.

Just found my problem, it wasn't an angular issue at all, or even a JavaScript one, just coder stupidity, fixed by revisiting my 15 lines of code after a couple of days doing something entirely different.

On Monday night, may we assume there will be an on-line computer connected to the projector so we can show web pages?

Hi Jon I can bring along my laptop, I need to check on the wifi but we can pair to my phone if necessary

Does anyone know anything about writing Jenkins plugins? If so I'd love to pick your brains!

Hey Guys! I've recently purchased a RepRap kit, which I've assembled and commissioned, but am having some issues with. Would I be able to bring it down and get some pointers from Hamish et al as to where I'm going wrong?

    May 15, 2013

    • Scott D.

Brilliant, thanks Tom, It'd be great to pick Rich's and Haminsh's brains (metaphorically, not literally)

    • Tom H.

Looks like Rich is looking after his kids but I'm sure Hamish or Jon Wise will be able to help. Have you checked out Jon Wises video below?

Hamish is planning on talking about his amazing 3D printed open source watch as featured on "Hack-A-Day" http://hackaday.com/2013/04/23/otm-02-is-a-3d-printed-wristwatch/

Indeed! :-) It's been a long wait, but at long last we're surrounded by some really awesome, ultra-low power micro-miniature technology available 'off the shelf' from the global electronic suppliers in 'each' quantities. The graphic LCD display, a latest generation Memory LCD from Sharp Microelectronics, (burning around 16uW for a partial display refresh) is just up and running on the OTM-02 module as of last week. The project is somewhere around the 90% complete, 90% to-go mark, so I'll bring along a few of the development prototypes from the last five years to help put things in perspective.

I have a geometry problem associated with my radial-arm 3D printer shown at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc1TodqOurQ . Would that be of interest at the Open Space Night? I could bring the printer to put the problem into context.

    1 · May 14, 2013

    • Tom H.

Yes that sounds great, especially with the printer :) Any geometry wizards out there?

      May 14, 2013

  • Scott T.

I'm going to bring along the Quadcopter that I'm working on.

Going to miss the nodecopters (gutted) so put me down for this please

    Probably got loads of questions!
