beets, carrots, onion, kohlrabi, turnips, tomatoes, peppers, beans, squash and herbs such as cilantro, dill, thyme, and sweet marjoram

Leafy greens

2 to 4 hours of sun,

plant leafy greens and scallions, as well as parsley, chives, and basil

Shady gardens

only dappled sunlight

can be planted with endive, leek, leaf lettuce, spinach, radishes, turnip green and small-headed cabbage

? heavy shade

you'd best plant yourself in line at the local farmer market
