Oregon Ridge Pancake Breakfast Hike
At just over 4 miles this hike is a little bit on the wimpy side although it is Oregon Ridge so there will be a fair nubmber of hills. What makes this hike special is that we will hike among the maple trees the 100% maple syrup on the pancakes we will eat after the hike came from. We had a lot of fun doing this hike last year and it is REALLY yummy maple syrup!
This is an annual event sponsored by the Oregon Ridge Nature Center. The folks at the Nature center have been gathering maple syrup from the trees in the park for the past few weeks which will be served with the pancakes.
Tickets for the breakfast are sold only at the door for $7.00 which includes pancakes with delicious, fresh from the trees in the park 100% maple syrup, sausage, orange juice, coffee, tea, or milk. The pancakes are all you can eat but if you go back for seconds you have to do the hike twice. There will also be live music and raffles of nature items through out the morning.
The breakfast is from 8:00 to 12:00 and I suppose we could eat and then hike but I'd like to earn my breakfast so we'll be starting the hike a little early at 9:30 AM sharp to make it back in time for pancakes. We should be done with everything by noon so you'll have the rest of your Saturday to yourself. For anyone coming from west of Route 32 and I-70 we can meet and car pool from the Park and Ride on Route 32.
Okay ... I admit I'd rather be paddling but water temps will still be pretty cold and I'm trying to schedule some things that everyone participate in. We will be back on the water on a regular basis in a couple of weeks.
