Paddle Upstream From Riley's Lock

Paddle upstream from Riley's Lock

Cold Water Gear is required for this paddle!  For more information on what that entails, visit this link:

http://www.meetup.com/Chesapeake-Kayak-Adventures/messages/boards/thread/38728872

You will not be allowed to attend this paddle without the cold water gear described in the link.

Sorry about the last minute posting of this paddle but a few of us are going to paddle from Riley's Lock tomorrow and I thought I would open it up to whoever could come.  We'll paddle upstream and take a short break off the water before returning to the take out.  I'm guessing the distance will be determined by consensus to be somewhere between 8 and 12 miles.  Please remember that 12:00 is the On The Water Time.  Plan to arrive with plenty of time to have your boat and gear ready to launch promptly by then.

Please note that there are SEVERAL Montgomery County speed cameras in the vicinity which have collected donations from myself and a number of other paddlers.

Rental boats are only available for this paddle if you have the necessary cold water gear.  If you have the necessary cold water gear please request one by emailing Chuck.

It looks like a beautiful day for kayaking on the Potomac! I'd love to join you but work calls.

Thanks for posting this .. I have to work, but if I could, I'd take a personal day to participate. I've been swamped but am going to find more hikes and paddles to join.

How smart of you to schedule a paddle when I actually have the day off!

Chuck has been dying for a rematch in his can-you-catch-me-on-the-water contest with that magnificent buck last November. That’s why he’s posting the buck’s photo. It’s a deliberate taunt!
