Triadelphia Season Opening Paddle 8 miles

Triadelphia Season Opening Paddle:

I'm starting to feel like we're trapped inside a snow glode and some jerk keeps shaking it but let's give this paddle one more try.

TO PADDLE AT TRIADELPHIA OR ROCKY GORGE RESERVOIRS YOU MUST PURCHASE A DAY USE PERMIT FOR $6.00 OR A SEASON PERMIT FOR $70.00. They can be purchased online at or at the shack near Brighton Dam.  With 7 different kayak launch point between them we will paddle enough on Triadelphia and Rocky Gorge to more than pay for the season pass if you attend regularly.

Water temperatures will NOT be in a range where we can waive the Cold Water Attire Requirements so Cold Water Attire is required for this paddle.  If you don't know what that means you can learn more here  You will not be allowed to participate in this paddle without the appropriate cold water attire.

We'll be on the water promptly at 10:30 AM from the boat ramp at Greenbridge Recreation Area .  Please plan to arrive with plenty of time to have your boat and gear ready to launch by then.  We do not wait for late arrivals.

This should be about an 7 to 8 mile paddle at a moderate pace.  We will stop off the water  for a lunch/snack break somewhere around the midpoint in the paddle so bring something to eat and perhaps something to share.  I expect we will be back to the takeout somewhere around 3:00 PM.

There are rental kayaks (including a paddle and PFD) available for this paddle at the weekend price of $55.00, BUT YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN COLD WATER ATTIRE. Please answer the rental question when you RSVP to request one.

Cold, Windy, lots of chop, a little scary in my new skinny boat but great to be out on the water again with the CKA gang. Truly an adventure. Thanks again to all who assist with put ins and landings. I really appreciate it.

A beautiful day. A tad 'breezy' but that just added to the adventure.

A little windy but we managed to avoid it a lot of the time for great early season paddle. Thanks for coming everyone.

I am sorry but I am uncomfortable with this amount of wind and must cancel

Just a heads up that it's rather windy at Triadelphia this morning. Windy enough that at other locations I would consider canceling the paddle. Fortunately at Triadelphia we can hug the shore line and explore the fingers to minimize our exposure to the wind. Still it's going to be a little choppy

Headed to Florida for six weeks plus hoping to come back with a kayak. I already have the cradles for my car top carrier. Excited! Be back soon to meet everyone!

Finally, the ice has melted. We were in Annapolis today, and while most of the boats were still "shrink-wrapped," there was activity again.
